Maybe it should have been obvious to me but I took a chance on this because of how spacious it was and that it had great reviews. I thought it would be less anxiety inducing for my cat because of the spaciousness and top loading feature. But after setting it up it just feels way too risky to use it for her. Even though she’ll be drugged for our road trip I don’t trust that she wouldn’t claw through the material anyway and also the buttons on the side that close it can easily be pushed to open it if you bump into something. This would be great for a well behaved pet who doesn’t want to escape/ I also think it would probably be good for transporting young kittens perhaps. I just think it would be too risky for me to try with my cat. Beautiful and spacious carrier overall though!
My scared cat hates to go in a carrier, so this one seemed like a good way to trick her. I put treats in it for a couple weeks and was able to trap her on the day of a vet appointment. But she is trying to get out and keeps getting her claws stuck in the mesh. I am afraid she will hurt her paw from trying to twist free. The quick-close mechanism is great, but the walls need to be made more durable and without the fine mesh.
While I haven't tested this for transportation purposes yet, but I'm very happy that my old boy has turned it into his bed. My hope is that this will make it easier for him to go to the vet. It was ridiculously easy to set up and it clicks into place fairly easily.
I bought this for a very large (20 lb) cat that I was adopting from someone who didn't want him anymore. She said he didn't like getting in a carrier, so I thought that this might be easier than shoving him into a regular crate. IT WAS! He was curious and just got in, and I slowly shut the lid. He didn't mind at all. It's pretty sturdy and well built.
Be really careful with this carrier, I had my cat in a harness hooked to the inside of this carrier and the top of it popped open when the button hit against my leg while walking. He escaped somehow got his body through the neck hole of the harness and was missing for 2 hours. It was absolutely horrible I will be very cautious moving forward if I even still use this…
This carrier is exactly what I needed! I have an 8 pound senior chihuahua and wanted something sturdy and safe for the car. It has a solid frame, is easy to carry, and I love that it has a place to buckle the seat belt. It is also spacious enough for my pup - I even put her bed in there and she still had room to move. I also like that it has a shaded top cover to keep the sun off, but mesh sides so I can see her and for air flow. It can also be folded down for storage. 100% thrilled with this purchase.
My dog is very small and gets scared in big carriers. This thing is so cozy and comfortable for him and we both just love it! Would recommend again and again!
Great, solid carrier for larger cats. Our cats are all around 10-11 lbs and the flat bag carriers never looked comfortable for them, likely increasing their stress at being transported. This carrier is basically a baby carrier and has a firm/solid bottom with propped legs but can be stored flat. Apparently it also has straps on one side for seatbelt use. Our cats can all comfortably sit and lay down in the carrier, oftentimes choosing to chill on it instead of other cat beds. We live in a somewhat fire danger zone, so having easy to use carriers that could be comfortable for the cat for a longer drive than just to the vet eases my pre-prep mind.
This is my favorite of the carriers I’ve tried. It’s spacious enough for my cat to sit or lay down, and I can fit a small bed in it for comfort. It’s perfect for car rides- I just slip the seatbelt through the loops on the side and I don’t have to worry about it sliding around when I turn. I also love the adjustable clasp inside so I can clip it onto my cat’s harness for extra peace of mind. My cat loves it so much I leave it out and he uses it as a bed. But it’s also super nice to store because it just flattens down no problem.
Getting my little female cat to the vet is a nightmare. I can’t catch her or get her in her old carrier. Granted it had been used a few times by both cats and even wiping it down with a calming wipe she just saw the carrier and would run and hide. I got this one and put it in the living room next to me. She jumped into it on her own! But then her big brother took it over. They were fighting over who would sit in this new thing that came in a Chewy box. They can read Chewy and know it must be good and just for them. It got so bad between the 2 of them that I ordered a 2nd one with pink and red flowers. Sheldon took that one over and even putting the sides up Gracie jumped in the black one to finally claim it as her own. I hope she feels that way in June when she goes to the Vet for a dental cleaning.
