Top doesn't zip onto bottom

This is a well made carrier with an unusable flaw. The top won't zip obro the bottom. I tried for 10 minutes. My husband tried for another 10. Also, the bottom is not sturdy enough for a pet over around 8 pounds. The bottom is simply not stiff enough.
