This is nice, but didn't really work for me. There is plenty of room for my 8lb pup, but I personally found I needed to use both hands to zip it. Since she was trying to climb out the whole time, it was a struggle trying to hold her, and zipper at the same time. I couldn't get it to stay partially open for her to just stick her head out - it just completely unzipped when she pushed against it. I also found having only one side of the carry strap padded was uncomfortable. I ended up using it to carry her supplies and my purse, and just carrying her in my arm, which kind of defeated the purpose. I think I need more of a backpack style for her. It would probably work well for a calm dog, that was content to stay put.

I’ve been through at least ten carriers without finding one that is small enough and safe from my 10-pound chihuahua’s destroyer skills. He chews through any meshing and hard carriers are too large for my needs. The size of this carrier is better than all previous ones but is not destruction proof. The 4-star rating is because I have never used it as a shoulder carrier so I cannot speak to that feature. I place the carrier on my rollator on top of the basket area where it fits comfortably. There is 1 air hole on the left and right sides of the lower part of the carrier; the side that would go against your body. My main concern is the zipper and the mesh flap covering which I consider flimsy for my pet but I think it’s fine for most pets who won’t try to escape. What I have been searching for is a good quality, small hard plastic carrier with a top handle. No need for any storage areas or pockets. My pet is never in the carrier except when I go for a walk or grocery shopping which is only 1-3 hours, two or three times a week. I think this carrier is great for a small and lightweight pet who is comfortable being carried around.
