This bed is describe as "self warming." What exactly does that mean? Is it warmer than other cats beds of the same design? If so, why?

This bed is self-heating. It includes a layer of mylar film, the same super-insulating material used in spacesuits. It absorbs, holds, and reflects your pet's body heat, and insulates them from cold floors.

can this go into the washing machine?

This can be machine washed with cold water on the gentle cycle or it can be hand wash and then hung to dry.

when this item is used flat, what are the dimensions? I'm looking for something I can put in the feral kitties insulated totes for the winter to help keep them warmer

When used flat, this bed is approximately 22 inches by 17 inches. When used as a cup and pod, this bed is approximately 17 inches in diameters by 7 inches tall.

Great Cat Cave

My cat absolutely loves his cave. When he's cold he snuggles inside of it , and he'll curl on top of it when he's too warm. It's easy to keep it clean, too.

A Fuzzy Cradle

I deducted one star because it has a hole in it at the inside seam so the stuffing is exposed. It's not that big of a deal, I can sew it by hand. I am happy my kitty is happy! :)

Very soft and cozy bed

This is a really nice cozy bed for my kitty. I put one of his toys in it to get him to go in and he fit perfectly. He is a big kitty, 16 lbs, and he fit very well,

This is a really nice cozy bed for my kitty. I put one of his toys in it to get him to go in and he fit perfectly. He is a big kitty, 16 lbs, and he fit very well, with room to move around and sleep. It seems very well made and he has no problem getting in and out of it. If I want to clean the cat hairs off I can turn it inside out to brush it. He is a Ragdoll so he has lots of hair.
