Our 13 year old shih-poo was diagnosed with severe tracheal collapse and we were struggling to medically manage his condition. We had tried several variations of medicines, but were at the point of exploring tracheal stenting due to his repeated collapsing episodes when he would exert even the smallest level of activity. I decided to order Throat Gold as a last ditch effort. Within the first day, I could tell a difference in bandits amount and severity of coughing. The first night, he barely coughed at all and had the first restful night in months. I asked our vet at the specialist office about slippery elm bark and Throat Gold in particular. She indicated that a lot of dogs seem to backslide at first when they start slippery elm bark as a supplement and cough a bit more in the first 7-10 days, but advised us to push through and that the reverse sneezing would eventually diminish. Luckily for us, we have very minor issues with reverse sneezing and saw improvement in bandits condition very early on. We have been using for about a month now and have significant decrease in coughing. Bandit seems much more comfortable. He’s able to play and even run a bit again. Also, his anxiety has drastically decreased. I was surprised that our vet had not recommended the supplement to begin with. Regardless, we are so happy we found it and would highly recommend to anyone whose pet is suffering from a tracheal collapse.
