The included indents can hold two 8 ½ inch pet bowls (not included). This is the measurement of the bottom of the bowl. The purpose of the indents is to keep the bowls from moving around.

I bought the smaller one for my cat, and the larger one for my dogs. They are both great. I love the shape of these trays! The back wall is wonderful, it keeps the majority of spills contained. They are the perfect size too. It's nice to be able to pick up the tray, dump it in the trash, and wash it in the sink... No more sweeping, dustpan, (sometimes paper towels & spray cleaner), then mopping. I highly recommend. Worth every penny!

Good idea, a little short in back.

It would be helpful if it were taller in the back. Dog food still gets on the wall behind it when my Lab is eating somewhat.
