PetAg Esbilac Healthy Aging Skin & Coat Supplement Dog Powder, 14-oz can

I’m really excited about finding this healthy aging supplement by pet ag esbilac. I’ve trusted the esbilac line for years for puppy/kitten formula. I even once used their goat milk formula to bottle feed a baby mouse once per vet recommendation. This healthy aging product has a good amount of protein and moderate fat, along with a good level of omega 3s/6s and vitamin E for coat. The fat level is too high (about 13% DMB) for my senior shih tzu mix that is diabetic and prone to pancreatitis so just be cautious if your dog has similar issues. It should work well for my healthy, 12 year old standard poodle. Senior dogs often get pickier and can suffer from some muscle wasting. This seems like a good product to keep dogs both interested in their food and get them some good key nutrients. I wish I had this a few months ago while I was caring for a 16 year old Chinese crested who was so skinny! So far, I’ve just added about a tbsp at a time to my standard poodle’s kibble. I don’t want to upset her system by adding too much too soon. She’s really liking it though! She’s very picky so anything I can add to help her eat is a win. I chose to add less water to keep it on the thicker side like a gravy and she really likes it. By adding more water, it could easily be thinned out. The powder is convenient and doesn’t have to be refrigerated. It says on the container it can be used with food or as a treat. I could see this being really good on lick mats and frozen in the summer months. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the true serving size becomes pretty large for bigger dogs. For my 50 pound dog, according to label, she is supposed to have 10 tbsp a day (1 tbsp/5 pounds). That seems like such a huge quantity to me. I’d rather her just get some of the extra nutrients by giving her a smaller portion as a topper because she is currently eating a balanced kibble. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product for anyone with a picky dog who needs a nutrient rich topper, as long as your dog can handle moderate fat. This would also work well, as I mentioned previously, for dogs that need that extra boost of nutrition in their senior years when food isn’t as interesting anymore. Think of it as senior “baby” formula (but remember it is not fully balanced or a meal replacement!). This seems high value and enticing while having good protein and fat to support nutrition in those dogs that have trouble keeping on weight.

My dogs love the taste of goats milk, and this powder goats milk is very convenient! You can sprinkle on top and serve, or rehydrate with water. I love that this one if specifically formulated for senior dogs.
