All kittens should receive their mother’s milk for at least 2 days, if possible. The colostrum milk gives extra nutrition and temporary immunity against some diseases. Warm KMR to room or body temperature. Feed kittens 2 tablespoons per 4 oz of body weight daily. Divide the daily feeding amount into equal portions for each feeding. Small and/or weak kittens should be fed every 3 to 4 hours. Larger and/or older kittens can do well being fed every 8 hours. The amount required should be increased or decreased to meet the individual requirements for each kitten. When kittens are old enough to lap, begin offering KMR in a shallow container. During the 6th week mix KMR with KMR 2nd Step Kitten Weaning Food to allow the kitten to be gradually switched to solid food.
Pregnant and lactating queens: Feed 2 tablespoons of KMR per 5 lbs of body weight daily.
Growing kittens (post weaning), show cats and/or convalescing cats: Feed 1 tablespoon of KMR per 5 lbs of body weight daily.
Store unopened can in a cool, dry place. Opened can, discard if not used within 72 hours. May be frozen in single serving size containers for up to 6 weeks. Do not freeze in original container.

Chronically Ill Elderly Cat Loves It
By Phoebe on Feb 8, 2021
Usually older cats shouldn't be fed kitten things bc it can put a strain on their organs, but this one is pretty close to the rainbow bridge as it is, so I'm just trying to keep her comfortable. Kitten milk perks her up no end, and it's something she'll always take, if it's this one! I've tried other brands and add-water powders but this is the gold standard, for her.

Manufacturer has apparently changed
By ClowderMaMa on Nov 26, 2020
For 2 years I have been purchasing cases of this canned KMR to feed the kittens, pregnant queens and new mothers in the colony cats that I care for. It has worked great until recently, that is. Over the last 6mos, the packaging has changed, as has the quality of the milk. The cans used to be pop-top, like soda cans, which was very convenient. Now, the cans require a can opener. More concerning though, is that the milk has been arriving "curdled" in appearance and darker in color than previously, and although the cats do drink it, it is pretty disgusting to look at and I am concerned re: the quality. On top of this, the price has risen significantly and availability has become somewhat For 2 years I have been purchasing cases of this canned KMR to feed the kittens, pregnant queens and new mothers in the colony cats that I care for. On top of this, the price has risen significantly and availability has become somewhat inconsistent. For these reasons, I actually developed a home recipe using lactose-free half/half & whole milk w/a sprinkle of powdered sugar to use instead. The cats love it, they are thriving on it, and it is readily available. … more

Used Several Times
By KimD on Sep 12, 2020 Top 10 Contributor
I have raised several litters of kittens that lost their mama. KMR was readily accepted and the kittens did well on it until they started eating solid food. I would recommend.

By Chickie on Sep 28, 2020
the cans I received did not have the pull tab opening. The milk was very thick and gave the kitten the runs!
