This is an okay training collar. I've been using other training collars, but recently, but after many years, the Sport Dog collar finally died. To save money, I purchased this one. Pros: it works; it's easy; the light function is nice. Cons: The beep is TOO loud (scares the dog) and there is no volume control; the beep doesn't work unless the contacts are touching the dog. My dog has thick hair, and she is very responsive to the beep /call function, so I rarely have to use anything else. Thus, I was disappointed that the call /beep function only works when full contact is made. Otherwise, works great.
While using this type of collar is a last resort for training of dogs and should only for short time, this unit has great radio range, lightweight, uses different colored lights and beeps as reinforcement of behavior modification, minimizing the need using the shock option. Simple to use, multiple level settings and best is rechargeable removing the need to buy special batteries. BUT avoid using a shock collar if you can.
The collar beeps when turned on, remote will light up but will not buzz or the other things. I have put the buzz up to 99 and it still does nothing.
Works pretty well as long as it is charged. Both pieces need to be charged, so we had to repurpose another short cord. The issue was trying to get the collar on before the dog got outside, but he got the idea very quickly and we no longer need the whole shebang.
It worked for like a week then it stopped shocking, the vibrate function still workes thats the only reason it took me so long to say this collar is trash. Waste of money. Now my rottie puppy has gotten used to the vibrate function to the point where it doesn't snap her to attention like it did at the beginning. The commands we trained her on with the shock still work thankfully but I can't teach her anything new! God forbid she gets excited and greets a new person.. I definitely need a new collar for my baby bear
Returning this collar for 3 reasons. 1 - it works intermittently and 2 - you can't remove the prongs (for my short hair dog) and 3 - even though we are moving it frequently it is rubbing his hair off of his neck. Thankfully we caught it before sores formed.
it works like a charm. She absolutely responds to it. Just the beep sound is keeping her on track when we go for walks. She is very nervous around people and wants to charge them and or bark. The beep is amazing and I dont have to shock her . I did have to use the vibration setting a few times around stray cats on our walk. I also had to shock her once but its nice to have those options and it is very easy to set it up. Buy it. You will like it.
The one worked well, so we got another for a different dog. Somehow, now the original collar won’t sync to the old or new transmitter. So, despite buying a second one, we only gave one that works. Sigh. Good news is that first dog has stopped wandering to the neighbors (mostly) so he doesn’t need the training collar as much. Bad news is more electronic stuff that seems fine and partly works (lights flash, triple click puts receiver in pairing mode, both old and new transmitters work separately with new collar) will be added to the landfill.
I only used it 4 times and it worked great until it wouldn't work at all! It showed it was fully charged but it wouldn't do anything! I guess you get what you pay for!
My 8 month old shihpoo is a very strong willed little 8 pound fella. He thinks he rules the roost so I purchased this training system to help him understand that he is not the boss but that his human mommy is! I began using just the tone sound at a low setting and adjusted as we went along. The sound gets his attention and he quickly stops doing what is unacceptable.
