I tried this with my dogs, as one has a thick undercoat and they both shed quite a lot. First, it does work! It does what it is intended to do, so for that I give 4 stars. The only reason I didn’t give 5, is because it’s not the most efficient grooming tool I’ve ever owned. This really can only be used outside, as the hair is just going to go everywhere and created quite a mess. Other tools I have allow me to groom indoors and capture the hair to keep things cleaner. Also would not use this too close to a dog’s face, as I wouldn’t want to poke them in the eye with the tips. With that being said, while the tool itself looks a bit scary (the metal on the tips worried me a bit), my dogs absolutely loved it! It’s like a mini massage for them. They kept sitting and waiting for more “scratches”. Also, I used this on areas of my dogs that sometimes get matted- it didn’t seem to pull at all or cause them any discomfort. Overall, not my first choice as a grooming/de-shedding tool- but will use to give my dogs some TLC and bonding time. Might be a good starter tool for dogs weary or grooming/brushing?

Surprisingly effective -- not sure how this works, but it does! My pup has what is called a 'double coat' and the GroomRaker removes his fine undercoat hairs, leaving the top coat smooth and shiny. My dog hates being brushed, but amazingly does not mind this at all, probably because the tines are very flexible. They actually conform to his contours, so there's not too much pressure on any one spot, unlike rigid metal combs or bristled brushes. A few asides - the fur is not captured in the brush itself and flys all over the place, so I brush outside! And the small metal tips do not look as though they'd take the place of a comb for long, silky hair. Medium-sized tool is good for my medium-sized dog.

Right off the bat, both dogs were super interested in the brush and would not stop sniffing at it. So good start. I think this tool was a bit too intense for my senior boston terrier. He's got a fairly short/slick coat and doesn't shed much, so while I was very gentle, he just didn't seem to enjoy the experience. My youngster pug, who has denser fur/sheds more (and has a little more meat on his bones) sat nicely while I raked this through his coat. I think this tool will come in very nicely when the seasons change and he sheds more. I tested this on my own skin first, depending on the length/density of the dogs coat, you may need to keep a lighter pressure...especially for shorter fur.

Removes Hair, But Prongs Are Sharp

I ised this brush on my cat with long hair, my cat with short hair and my dogs with short hair. I found the prongs quite sharp. Although it removed a lot of hair I did not like the feel of the brush. It was a bit awkward and different than the average pet brush.

I've been meaning to get a deshedder for a while and this one was it. I had to be very gentle with it (as for all rakes) and my puppy seemed to be fine with it. The plastic feels a bit cheap, but the little rakes at the tips definitely get the job done -- lots of fur came off. I'm giving it four stars because the removed fur isn't collected neatly into one place, it just goes everywhere and is hard to gather up afterwards.

Weird but may work for some!

First impressions are it's pretty strange. On my pit mix, it only worked on her back legs. On my red heeler mix (shorter hair than typical heeler), it worked much better. The 'fingers' of the brush are kind of strange and I was worried I'd get a little too personal by accident when brushing my pup's legs. I think I'd reach for a different brush more often but will use on occasion!

Great for soft undercoat fur

My cattle dog mix has a 'double coat' with very fine, soft smaller hairs that are difficult to get with most grooming tools, plus he is very sensitive to most brushes and combs. He tolerates the GroomRaker well because it does not touch his skin, yet it manages to get that soft undercoat shed out with just a few strokes. The flexible prongs make it almost impossible for me to put too much pressure on a sensitive spot, so this is a win for us. A caution - the short tines do not capture and hold the fur, so best to do the brushing outside. Medium-sized tool worked great on a 40 lb dog.

I liked that this product was lightweight and my dog seemed to enjoy the "fingers" that it has. My dog has a very dense coat, and this did not seem to get to the undercoat since the teeth are rather small. Also the fur didn't accumulate on the product but was left on my dog--which made it a little difficult to clean up.
