The X-Small can hold pets up to 15 pounds, the Small can hold pets 15 to 25 pounds and the Medium can hold pets 25 to 50 pounds.
1) Is it waterproof? 2) Is the lid removable?

The top is removable for cleaning. The Dog House is waterproof and even features a rain diverting rim.
How many inches wide is the hole for doghouse. I need one that is at least 17 inches for a turtle

The dimensions for the medium door are approximately 19 x 12 inches.
Can a door flap be installed for extra weather protection?

The Petmate Barnhome III Door does come with 2 screws and directions on how to install the vinyl flap door (item 73661). However, the holes are not already on the dog house.
