I've put together crates for about 20 yrs., by myself, but this one is impossible to do that. Sliding the top doesn't line up, so will have to wait for my husband to come home so we each can do a side. Also, there is a flaw in it, and if we were planning on picking the dog up in this, it wouldn't work. There is one catch thing that is completely melted off, so there is nothing in that area for the top to slide onto, but it's near one of the bolts, so I think I can make it work. Made from poor quality plastic. I have a Petmate crate from '97, that I'm still using, it's gone through 3 dogs. Much better plastic was used back then. I don't think this one will last even close to that. Petmate missedI've put together crates for about 20 yrs., by myself, but this one is impossible to do that. Great kennel but XL needs 2 people to assemble
on Oct 25, 2021
My 6 month old mastidor puppy quickly outgrew his large Petmate Vari kennel, so I needed to find a larger one. I wanted something that is airline approved if we need to travel and this one fit the bill. Assembly of the XL kennel was a bit difficult to line up the slide lock sides, but with 2 people it is manageable. I love that the door can be opened on either side (right or left opening) and the vent holes all around provides good airflow. It seems pretty durable, but only time will tell. Link likes it too, so that’s the most important thing.

Terrible kennels. We have had three of these kennels for about 30 days now and two doors have broken. The bar for the door has split in half. I would not recommend these EXPENSIVE kennels at all.

Perfect size crate for my puppy
She loves it. We leave it open all the time and she goes in and out. Great quality and price
Just what we needed

Exactly the right size for our small puppy with room for him to grow. Easy open and close with just the right amount of ventilation.

I have yet to use this but it's a solid product. I like how the door opens from both sides.
Maine coons love it
on Nov 10, 2020
I have two big maine coon cats, one broke an arm and had to have weekly vet visits for a few months. So I bought this for him, and he and his brother both use it at times to relax in. I’ve also seen my dogs in there a few times, but it’s mostly the cats. Going to the vet seems less stressful for them.
Also, note there is no handle, I made one easily but if you’re not handy maybe you’ll need to get another.
Kenel missing parts

Arrived missing all of the bolts to put it together. I had to scramble around looking for bolts so we could take my cat to the vet. Very surprised Chewey would ship something like this, especially for what they were charging.
Pros and Cons...
on Jul 24, 2020
Like others have written and I agree:
Very difficult to put together, the holes for the screws wouldn’t line up and it took a long time and my husband’s help. We’re not planning to take it apart, it stays in our car, otherwise I would have returned it. Another negative is the noisy door, it rattles and we’re still working on that.
What I like is all the holes for aeration, seems sturdy enough (altho not as solid as our 19 yo crate we still have!), and the option to open the door on either side. Also like the way the latch opens by turning rather than the squeeze type.
Lightweight & East to Put Together
on Jul 19, 2020
It arrived quickly, and we immediately set it up for our newest adoptee, a senior 35lb coonhound. It is perfect for her. The only reason I am not giving a 5-star review is that the kennel feels lightweight, which is great for me to move around, but might have been problematic if my dog were stronger or more active. The last crate I owned lasted 20-years and felt sturdier (this one sways just the tiniest bit when moved side to side). Then again, the plastic these days may be stronger than I am giving credit for. Read the other reviews from people with big dogs to get their input. For us, IT IS PERFECT.
