I liked it!
By GuineaPigAndRabbitMom on Apr 11, 2021
I used these for about a month with my guinea pigs when I only had 2 (now I have 8). They have a 30" × 60" enclosure and I used about 1/3 of the bag each cleaning and I only had to clean their cage once a week. However, my piggies enjoy running on fleece better (and I like the bright colors!) and can run on fleece much easier than these shavings. All in all, the shavings are amazing, relatively soft, great odor control and absorption but they're just not for me or my fur-babies.

Perfect for Rats
By Kian on Apr 7, 2021
I switched to aspen bedding after fleece wasn’t working with my rats. The bag will last me about 10 cleanings! here’s a size comparison with my single critter nation incase anyone else struggles with comprehending the size. :)

Good quality, good price, good size
By SunnyinLansing on Feb 20, 2021
This has worked great for my guinea pigs and Syrian hamster. Size of bag is perfect for fitting in a small house, and not too big for lifting. Lasts for awhile. Also, once opened, it is easy to get bedding out of the bag without getting chips all over the place. Bag is sturdy. Chips are fairly large, but they work well for me. I like to use this mixed with some paper bedding. I haven't noticed any strong odors or fragrances. Just smells nice and "clean" to me.

Aspen bedding
By Irritated2021 on Jan 28, 2021
I love this bedding. My only complaint, and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is because it is never in stock when I need it. I go through several bags a month. It's very frustrating not being able to get it with my autoship because it is not in stock.

Not that great for snakes good for rodents.
By Raul on Jan 22, 2021
Has a smell to it, not good for burrowing. I would not recommend it for snakes only good for rodents. Probably won't buy it again luckily I have mice and I can still use it. Orginally purchased for snakes but I would not recommend it for them.

Aspen bedding
By Kimba on Dec 31, 2020
It didn't smell like regular aspen bedding. It has a chemical odor to it. I'm concerned to use it for my guinea pigs. Not pleased at all! I will not purchase this again.

Fantastic Deal and a Good Bedding!

This is the best price around for aspen bedding, costing only $0.10 per liter! Best of all, aspen wood is safe for small animals since it's a hardwood. Rats, Guinea Pigs, Snakes...you name it! I personally use it in my massive 24×120×36" Gerbil enclosure with 4" aspen topping 20" of 5-1 sand/soil mixture (this combination is most natural for them). However, it's important to remember that plain aspen chip should never be used for burrowing animals, as it won't hold enough structure. So for Gerbils and Mice, combine aspen chip, paper pulp, and timothy hay to create an incredible burrow-friendly bedding! For Hamsters, just paper pulp and wood chips is okay (hay isn't good for them). For animals This is the best price around for aspen bedding, costing only $0.10 per liter! Rats and Guinea Pigs do best with fleece thrown in the wash every 3 days, although aspen chip is okay for them as well. But know to spot clean daily/weekly and deep clean weekly/monthly, depending on the size of the enclosure (remember, the smaller your tank/cage, the harder it is to care for). I hope this helps anyone who's considering aspen chip bedding as an option! Good luck :) … more
