It is not recommended to use other litters with this unit. The crystal litter is specially designed and pre-measured for optimal performance. Using a different type, size, too much, or not enough litter can cause the litter box to malfunction.

We have 3 cats and had to change the crystal litter every 3-4 days even though this was advertised as good for multiple cats. Very expensive alternative to a traditional litter box. However, Chewy was excellent to work with and we returned the litter box and received a full refund.

3 cats and they all prefer it over standard box!

we have 3 big male cats and they all prefer using this litter box, we have another standard litter box we use as an overflow but all the cats like the automatic

we have 3 big male cats and they all prefer using this litter box, we have another standard litter box we use as an overflow but all the cats like the automatic one. With 3 cats we need to change the pad after 2 weeks, it can get kind of pricey. I suspect, if you only had 2 cats you can get away with changing it every 3 or 4 weeks.

Honest review: It's honestly like any other litter box there is. It still smells, if not worse, than my regular litter box. The pee soaks into the bottom, and the crystals hardly absorb it. You still have to scoop the poop out daily from the side, or else it will smell even worse. I have 1 cat that is 5 months old. They say for one cat, the litter tray lasts 1 month. That's not true. It's lucky if it makes it 2 weeks without it smelling like pee completely. I forgot to change it because of the spot where it's at, and my cat went to use it and came out smelling completely like pee. I would say it's really not worth the price. It's the same work as a normal litterbox but 4 times the price. The pee is the problem. It doesn't get soaked up. That's why I think it smells worse than my regular litter box. Which sucks because I think my cat likes this one better than the normal litterbox. I've also tried using different crystal litter, and that made everything smell even worse.

Considering the price tag I expected a bit more from it, but I was very disappointed. First of all, the crystal litter will get everywhere worse I think than regular clay litter. It has a tendency to smear their feces onto the rake too which is just not fun to have to clean constantly. Plus it does absolutely nothing for the smell except try and cover it up but it does a very poor job of it. The trays are super annoying to have to buy constantly and they’re not cheap. I tried to use the reusable tray and that was DISGUSTING, so I went back to the disposable kind. With the amount of money I spent swapping out the trays every 10 days if not more, I could use just bought the litter robot. Would not recommend…

I did not know what to expect when ordering this. It works pretty well and meets promises. I recently adopted 4 adult cats from a rescue ranging in domestication from lap cat to almost feral. They are indoor cats, of course. Every one of them immediately started using this litter box! I was thrilled. It promises a month for one cat, so I was thinking a week for 4 cats. A week was pushing it for 4 adults of the larger variety. But all in all, I am happy with the product.
