I purchased this ramp to help large dogs get into my SUV, but I wasn't excepting just how much space it would take up, how heavy it is, and how awkward the whole process would be. Nothing about this is "easy." It's so heavy and awkward to open and it's pinched my fingers a few times while I try to waggle it up to my SUV. Once placed, it does work well! It is certainly sturdy and gets the job done. But where are you supposed to store it in the vehicle it takes up SO much space! It would be one thing if I only needed it to load dogs up to leave my house, but traveling with it is a real pain. After just a handful of uses, I am finding I would rather go back to picking dogs up than dealing with this so it's just been sitting in my garage.
I already have one of these ramp that's about 10 years old. It is wider, longer and sturdier than most other ramps you can buy. I ordered a second one of these last month so that I can put two side by side for my completely blind Anatolian/Pyr puppy who weighs 100+ lbs. and is fearful coming down the ramp. The ramp is very stable and does not give at all. It is a heavier ramp, 18.5 lbs., but I am an older woman and can handle it just fine.
We love this ramp for a large, senior dog. It’s actually our second one. The first one lasted about 14 years. Three dogs used it before we needed to replace.
Our 12 year old, 60lb pup is losing rear mobility and stairs are the hardest. The entrance to our backyard has four steep steps, and this ramp has been a game changer! It fits perfectly over the stairs to allow him much easier access in and out of the yard. It is wide enough for him to stay on even if his steps wobble side-to-side. And not too wide as to block the entire set of stairs, so we can leave it set up, rather than putting it out for each trip up and down the stairs. This is also helpful so we can walk up/down the stairs next to him and provide any additional support he needs.
Our boy,Baxter, is almost 15 . We had bought him steps for getting into the car, it worked okay for a year or so,, but it was at the point we nearly had to lift his 100 pound weight and he slipped a couple times. Then he was having trouble on the 3 steps up to the mudroom. Now with just gentle guidance to give him confidence he gets in the car and up those steps no problem. I don't have to worry about him falling and he can still go for his rides. He took to them right off!
Our dog made it up and down ramp first time with some leash help. Will know better after our vacation. Would prefer same ramp but with complete ramp soft coverage instead of the grooves, they tend to be slippery.
Easy to use, dog went up the first time! Very sturdy for any large dog! Going to use it to haul my large cooler in and out of car! Wish it weighed a little less.
I needed a way to get my 50 lb 6 month old Husky into my Jeep. My Jeep is lifted with big tires and he could not jump up into it. I bought this hoping it would help. It took him less than a day to be able to use this and it makes taking him places so much easier! Would recommended to anyone with a dog too big to lift.
I so wanted this ramp to work for my medium-sized, aging pup who has joint issues. It was said to be grippy, and traction is so important, along with enough length to reduce as much as possible the angle they have to climb. The raised ribs have some of the grippy material, but the base surface of the ramp between the ribs, which is what impacts my dog so much, is only two little strips far apart. If your dog's feet don't hit those two narrow strips they don't get any grip. Why not coat the entire ramp in this? It's not going to work for us.
We have a 2021 Silverado pickup and our dogs ride in the back seat. They are both older 80 lb setters and have a difficult time getting out of the truck. We purchased this ramp and have used it a few times and it works really well so far. When we first received it we laid it on the carpeted floor and used treats to entice them to walk across it. When placed securely inside the door of the truck they were able to get in and out of the truck without the ramp wobbling under their weight. Only caution : be careful when closing the ramp because it easily closes on your fingers!
