Is it possible to program this feeder to dispense food when a cat approaches it, but only if it's a cat that hasn't already reached a programmed max amount for a given time period?

This feeder can be programmed in this way. With Face-Recognition Feeding Mode, you can set both a daily max amount and a cool-down period for each cat. Even if the same cat approaches repeatedly, PiFi will not dispense more food once they’ve hit their daily cap or are still within the cool-down window. This prevents overeating and ensures controlled feeding. For the first 15–30 days, we suggest using time-scheduled feeding before switching to face recognition. Why? PiFi’s technology needs 15–30 days to learn each pet’s face, body, and approach patterns for accurate recognition. Your pets also need this time to get comfortable with the new feeder, build a routine, and avoid stress or irregular eating. After this adaptation period, face-recognition feeding works more smoothly and reliably.

Avoid this one

I had purchased this thinking that it had cat facial recognition and would feed based off that. It doesn't. In addition the basic features don't even work. I've

I had purchased this thinking that it had cat facial recognition and would feed based off that. It doesn't. In addition the basic features don't even work. I've had it for less than a week. Using it for two different cat foods, one prescription and one kitten. It started telling me that the bin 1 was empty. It's full. Now it dispenses the wrong food, bin 2 when I request bin 1. It even does this when I manually press the feed button. In the app it now states: food blocked please clean, but the app never alerted me to this. Until after the latest update On top of that it doesn't recognize when a cat is there, I have a camera on it and I'm being alerted by the other camera that a cat is being seen. It also will tell me it saw one of the cats, but there is no recording. In fact it stopped recording altogether.

I waited a month to leave a more accurate review and I can genuinely say that this feeder has been such a lovely step up from my old Petlibro feeder. My cat is very food-driven, so being able to track how much he’s eating (and when) on the app gives me a lot of peace of mind. The camera quality is super clear, and I love checking in on him throughout the day with the two-way audio. It also allows me to record videos and take pictures of him. I catch him daily waiting for the feeder to go off while I’m at work. The dual food bins are also a huuuge plus since I recently started incorporating a cat allergen food. The option to mix portions between both bins makes it easy to add this new food into his diet without changing his routine too much. I highly recommend for anyone managing multiple food types or just wanting a smarter, more reliable feeder.

I’m really happy with this feeder. The setup was quick and easy. The dual bins are super handy if you have two cats that eat different food, and the app makes scheduling and portion control a breeze. I did run into a small issue with the app at first, but I reached out to tech support and they got back to me right away. They fixed the problem super fast, which honestly made me even more confident in the product. The design looks great, it’s quiet, and I don’t have to refill it constantly thanks to the big 6L capacity. It’s been totally reliable so far -- every meal on time, every time. Highly recommend it if you’ve got multiple cats or just want an easy, worry-free setup!

This product has so much potential! The structure is high quality with latches at the top to lock in food and keep it fresh. It has a very nice removable dish, and a high quality camera. The app is easy to use, although i could not get the microphoneto work. I'm not sure if it is a setting on my phone causing the problem, or the app itself. I had an easier time setting up feeding schedules with quantities than other brands I've tried. It's actually very user friendly. There are two separate bins so if you have more than one cat on a different diet, you can set that up as well. The down side to that is there is no way to control whether another cat eats that food once it is dispensed. I think the coolest thing you could do with this unit is set up schedules that slowly increase quantities to introduce a new food. I was a little disappointed about the cat recognition. You have to go through a lot of stupid steps to get your cat profile set up and then is doesn't even do anything like maybe tell you which cat is moving in front of the camera. It's a neat unit. Like I said, so much potential. Lots of room for improvements.

We’re absolutely loving the PiFi dual cat feeder! Setting it up was a breeze – just a few stickers to peel off, and the step-by-step instructions made it super easy to configure feeding schedules and assign each cat to their specific compartment. I usually need help with gadgets like this, but I was able to set it up on my own in about 30 minutes. We have two 14-pound cats, and our veterinarian recommended they slim down a bit. This feeder has been amazing for timing their meals and making sure they get just the right portions. The built-in camera has been especially helpful—we can see both cats eating at the same time, which gives us peace of mind. Another perk is the thoughtful design: the feeder has plenty of space with a small divider in the middle, making it perfect for households with two cats. On top of that, we love the updates we get when we’re away. The app lets us watch them live or receive alerts when they’re active in front of the camera—whether they’re eating or just checking things out. The only feature I wish it had would be the ability to drop just a few pieces of kibble on demand through the app. That way, we could call the cats over or see them more easily while away. Lastly, the one part our cats don’t seem to care for is the microphone—when we try talking to them through it, they look terrified and walk away. With that said, this feeder is awesome, and both the cats and the humans in our house are loving it!
