I wasn’t sure what to expect with suet icing. It’s probably easiest to describe like a peanut butter. The container is a decent size but you’ll want to add to your order a feeder or make sure that you have tree limbs to spread the suet icing on. The container said to use the enclosed applicator but my packaging did not include one which is why I gave it a 4 star rating. However, it spreads easily with a butter knife. I have spread the suet icing on some tree branches and logs. The birds have flocked to it as much as they have the suet bricks that I have out nearby. Overall, a product that attracts birds and was easy to use.
The container - it was so easy to get the suet out and put the lid back on.
So spreadable. I use it to feed my wild birds. They love it!!! And it stays soft - does not harden up!! Great product!!!

The birds seemed to love this suet spread and found it within a few hours. My neighborhood flock of sparrows had a field day pecking at all the small smears I put in a small tree in my backyard. The spread comes in a large tub with a small wood popsicle stick as a tool to use to help smear. I was able to poke the stick into the spread to keep the stick stored with the suet. When cold, the spread is a little harder to spread, but I kept it inside and it was relatively easy to take out and smear while at room temperature. It is similar to peanut butter in looks and consistency. The spread also easily stuck to the bark of the tree I smeared it on, and it was a straightforward process getting it spread on. My phone camera doesn't zoom in well enough to get any good action pictures, but it was very fun watching which species of birds were attracted to the spread.

When it arrived I was a bit concerned because there was a lot of space around the food in the container, but after having it inside for a few days it filled out so I think it just shrank in the cold. It’s definitely an attractant and apparently tastes good, as the birds, squirrels, and my dog have all tried to get to it. It says that it comes with an applicator, however, I wouldn’t plan on keeping the applicator beyond one or two uses. It’s a small wooden spoon like the ones you get with the little ice cream cups as a kid. Other than that it’s a pretty good product.

This is a pretty unique and fun way to feed the birds. It’s just two ingredients (beef fat and peanut butter) and is high in protein and fat which the birds probably need in the winter. The little spatula that came with it was handy. I will probably drill holes in a log and fill it with the spread for future use instead of putting it on my trees because we have woodpeckers.

Used this tree icing right before a snow storm hoping to help the birds get the storm prep ready. Took a while for the birds and squirrels to find it. Other than the occasional woodpecker, the tree icing is mostly for the squirrels. Birds needed something to perch on to be able to get to the icing. Disappointed for the birds…but did keep the squirrels occupied for a bit.
Seems to work!

Full disclosure - it’s winter here and we’ve gotten less birds than usual in the yard/at peak times in general! Used this on my bird feeder and a tree outside and it did get birds and a squirrel excited to try it! We didn’t have a ton of visitors but that is usual per the weather we’ve had! It was east to put out and spread! I think it’s a great idea!
Easy to Use
I had stopped putting suet out because it made such a mess and chunks ended up in my bird bath. This stuff is wonderful! It spreads easily and the woodpeckers love
I had stopped putting suet out because it made such a mess and chunks ended up in my bird bath. This stuff is wonderful! It spreads easily and the woodpeckers love it. My husband made me a wood feeder out of some logs we had but you can purchase a feeder. The suet doesn't have to be refrigerated, just put the lid back on and put in your cupboard. Very convenient and good for the birds.
Highly recommended for your wild birds

This is an interesting product. It was delivered frozen solid but once it thawed out it is easily spreadable. It smells and looks like peanut butter(one of the main ingredients). Not many birds seem interested in it but it is the middle of winter so there aren’t many around right now.
