Instructions
Filter cartridges should be changed every 2 - 4 weeks. Disassemble and clean the fountain once a week. Disassemble and clean the pump every two weeks. The fountain is dishwasher safe.
Cleaning the pump is essential to the longevity of the fountain as well as the cleanliness of the water.
- Unplug the fountain.
- Remove the top bowl from the lower bowl.
- Unplug the power cord from the transformer.
- Remove the top cover of the pump housing and set aside.
- Gently lift the motor out of the cavity of pump housing. Suction cups on the bottom of the motor will hold it in place. A small amount of force may be necessary.
- Once the motor is out of the fountain, with your thumb and forefinger, gently squeeze on either side of the intake plate, and pull off. It may be necessary to insert a fingernail into the seam of the inlet plate to pry it open.
- Remove the stator by placing your finger nail under the small lip located on the narrow side of the tear drop shaped stator and pull out.
- Once the stator is removed you can also remove the impeller (three bladed propeller) which is held in place magnetically. To remove the impeller, use a fingernail to get under a blade and lift it out.
- Rinse well.
- Once the parts are clean you can reassemble the motor for use by replacing the impeller, stator and cover plate.

While I like this water fountain much better than his old plastic one that we had for a few years, I’m not sure that my kitty catdoes. And his old one he drank the water where it came down the fountain, but on this one he won’t go near that part only drinks it out of the hole with the exposed water in the reservoir area. Also, this one tends to make a loud groaning or rattling sound, and I have to continually shift the top piece around. I am thinking ofbuying a piece of silicone fish tank Airline tubing and slicing it open to put along the edge of the top piece to stop that noise.

I am still using the original pump. This fountain is easy to clean and the kiddos have liked it since day one. I admit I only change the filters monthly, but it doesn’t seem to be a problem. Full disclosure, I purchased when I had an older cat. The two current kitties are now 8 years old.
I cleaned the motor and changed the filters but it quickly stopped working
I changed the filter and cleaned the motor, but the motor stopped working after three months. It was nice when it worked.

Excellent fountain!

I purchased this fountain approximately 4 years ago and have found that it works flawlessly. It's quiet although it does get louder when it's running low on water but that is a bonus so that I know to fill it up. Replacement parts are easy to find. I have replaced the pump twice which is not unexpected considering that pumps wear out. Replacements are very inexpensive. I considered replacing the fountain due to wear of plastic parts but instead ordered replacement parts directly from Pioneer Pets website since they are not available at chewy.com. Highly recommend. Saved a bundle over replacing the entire fountain! It's easy to take apart and clean, and like any fountain, needs to be cleaned every four weeks or sooner because gunk gets in the filter housing and pump (probably because it is placed near the cold air return where dust tends to gather) My cat's love having the option to drink from the spillway or the water that's in the bowl. Considered replacing it simply due to age but decided instead to buy the replacement parts. Very happy with thos fountain. Thanks for a great product!

I love the unique shape of this bowl, it’s got an interesting design so the bowl is still accessible even when there is no power. We had a few power outages and with our old fountain our pets would lose access to running water if we were not home all day. This leaves the water accessible to our cats 24/7. I also love that it’s fully stainless steel aside from the filter cover. It’s got minimal parts to clean which is exactly what I was looking for when choosing a new fountain! This is a buy it for life item and no more plastic ones that get all yucky over time. :)
Not Good

Stainless Steel is easier to keep clean.

Pump breaks too often

I've had this fountain for over a year and I've finally had enough. I have had to replace the pump 5 times. A couple times the pump straight up just stopped working after only a few weeks if use. The other times the pump would produce an insufferable rattling noise both my cat and I didn't like. The rattling seemed to always start after the first time I'd pull apart and clean the pump. I'm not an engineer but it looks like the magnetic propeller doesn't sit fully and flush inside it's compartment, which means it's most likely shifting around as it spins, causing vibrations and the annoying rattling. The fountain would be fine if they had a better quality pump, but they don't, so it is trash.
