Cholla and ribbon wood toy for my macaws

I decided to try this wood toy for my macaws. I generally buy them the colored, shaped pine block toys, which they love to shred, but thought they might enjoy something

I decided to try this wood toy for my macaws. I generally buy them the colored, shaped pine block toys, which they love to shred, but thought they might enjoy something different. They were immediately curious about the toy and came right over to check it out! The cholla wood and ribbon wood pieces are harder than pine and this toy is holding up to their beaks much longer than the pine blocks do. I like that this toy is made of natural woods and the holes in the cholla are great for hiding treats and scraps of paper for shredding! This toy has been a nice addition to my macaw’s environment!

My bird enjoyed this toy. It’s big enough for an African Grey without being too big. It lasted longer than many other toys he’s had as he will destroy most toys

My bird enjoyed this toy. It’s big enough for an African Grey without being too big. It lasted longer than many other toys he’s had as he will destroy most toys fairly quickly. He even has a few pieces left towards the bottom after a month of having it which is saying something!

I love the natural wood elements in this toy and how it encourages natural foraging. Like any new toy, the birds are a bit wary. To encourage engagement, I have been sticking little pieces of walnut and treats into the wood hoping they’ll dig in and grab them! Definitely prefer these types of toys over plastic.

We used to buy these for Shilo a long time ago, so glad they’re back in stock. We stuff treats inside the cholla wood holes. We tried the large which is very big
