My Syrian hammy loves this cage! She enjoys climbing up the bars like a little acrobat. Also, she is so happy with how much more space there is to roam around compared to her original cage. To prevent escaping make sure the doors are pushed down securely and tucked behind/under the little tabs. This picture if you look closely I didn't shut the door correctly and didn't have the door tucked behind the tab. As long as your doors are closed correctly your pet shouldn't be able to escape. Other than that this cage is awesome for a Syrian Hammy!
This is the first cage that I've ordered and am very pleased. The deep bottom has kept the bedding in well. The rafters have just as much floor space plus the deck. This product is sturdy and goes together easily by one person. I am ordering another.
I wanted a cage for a mouse that had good airflow and tight wiring. I knew this had gaps that would need amending but it fit my desires in others ways. I wish the company wouldn’t have those gaps along the top side edges and corners. I wove flexible wire to fill in the spaces. I give 4 stars because the front door was not flush and I could not make it so. There were also some curves in a few wires that made more gaps here and there and I had to wire those up, too. I would think that for almost $100, the cage would be perfect. All said and done though, my rescued mouse boy is very happy and we can communicate more easily and he has fresh air flow. I would recommend this as a mouse cage with the caveat of needing to do a little amending, unless you have a really big and fat mouse. I can also fit a nine inch wheel on the upper level, which is nice as it doesn’t get all filled up with bedding. The deep tray is great for mouse tunnels. I can easily suspend ropes and toys from the wires. It was very easy to assemble! It is lightweight and I like the large doors. Other than those dang gaps, it is a great mouse enclosure!
I just got this as a quarantine sick cage for my new baby rat girls and this thing is huge like huge huge I mean this could be used as a main cage for about three maybe four rats so it's a good cage just bigger then you expect
I was nicely impressed with the material quality, but upon assembly, the cage edges all have HUGE gaps around 1/2” or bigger! The door is so loose, my mouse can push it open. This cage isn’t suitable for anything smaller than a small rat! Absolutely not escape proof at all. Horribly, disgustingly disappointed with this. Do not buy it for any small animal.
This was perfect for my hamster. The bars are the right width apart and it is deep enough and gives her enough space.
This cage has been great for our robo hamster for 6 months, but tonight our hamster is somehow in the air ducts. His cage is closed up carefully and nothing has been chewed, so he must have squeezed out somewhere? Other than that, if you have a larger hamster or maybe a rat this cage is great. Easy to take apart and clean and fairly sturdy. We have been happy with the cage until now. Will probably go the DIY route and construct a bin cage after this adventure.
I like it! Its really big but i dont like how the bars bend so easily but setup was honestly really simple and its really nice!
This has by far been our favorite cage. We own rats and had a Critter Nation that we spent money on and just weren’t happy with them at all. Our rats chewed the pans up on the CN within four months to the point we were cutting our hands every time we did a change. No matter what we did the poo and food and everything else would end up everywhere with the Critter Nations, and the odor….We bought this wonderful little cage with the intention of only having 2 pet rats. Well - we’ve saved 4 now and are on the hunt for a bigger cage - the only flaw we can find with this is we can’t extend it without jimmy rigging it - or buying a whole new cage. I’m writing this review hoping and PRAYING the manufacture sees it and designs an addition to this cage or makes another option to for a larger variant of this. I cannot find anything with the deep pans this offers plus the space we need for our 4 girls. We have a burrower so it’s important we have the deep pan but since we have rats they need ventilation as well. This cage was so easy to install, no tools needed), and it so easy to take a part if needed for cleaning, and snaps right back into place. We had it out of the box and set up within 10 minutes initially. The extra metal lock is perfect for added security on the front as well. With the deep pans we’ve seen very little mess….it’ll be a little given with second tier but hardly any mess. Paired with Critter Care even with 4 rats there’s NO smell the first week. With the set up we can hang hides from virtual everywhere as well. Our girls love climbing on the bars and bouncing around from area to area (despite its small size for how many we have). They really seem to enjoy this home. Please, I beg you to make a larger version of this cage.
Unfortunately, most hamster cages sold in pet stores and even on Chewy are WAYYYY too small for both dwarf and Syrian hamsters. They need lots of horizontal floor space to run; vertical space like cages with multiple levels and colorful tubes don't count. Please do your research on proper habitat size and enrichment, as too many of these little guys are in too-small enclosures. This Prevue Deluxe Hamster Home is the best one I've seen on the US market if you don't want to build your own bin cage. I'm really happy that the platform is solid and not made of wire, as this can hurt little hammies' feet and cause bumblefoot. It is very easy to clean and wipe down. I have my roborovski hamster in here and she seems to love it. Plenty of depth for 6 inches of bedding, which should be minimum as they are burrowers. Wouldn't recommend for really tiny robos though due to the bar spacing, but you could always modify by adding a layer of chicken wire outside of the cage to close any wider gaps where they could squeeze out while still maintaining plenty of airflow. Remember their enclosure is their whole world, so go bigger if you can!
