Prevue Pet Products Silverado Macaw Dometop Steel Bird Cage, Black

This cage is not engineered for a Macaw. The bars are not thick enough (therefore not sturdy enough) to hold heavier toys and perches without serious bouncing. The grate on the bottom is the same material and (see pictures above) obviously not welded well enough. I have had to place a second grate from an old cage on top of this cage's grate to keep her away from the broken bars on the relacement grate. It's obvious whomever designed this cage does not know enough about Macaws. If they did, they would know that the bars are not strong enough for a Macaw and their toys/perches, and certainly not strong enough to withstand a Macaw's beak. When I spoke to the company, their reaction was "give her toys to keep her busy". She has plenty of toys and perches, that's not the issue. They did grudgingly sent me a new grate. She did the same thing (actually worse) to the new one within 3 days. It's just not made to withstand a Macaw. Her old California cage was great. But, it was 27 years old, and they are now out of business. Prevue is not going to do anything more, so I'm not sure where to turn at this point. This cage is definitely NOT suited for Macaws.

My bird has more room
