Do you sell the replacement refills for this product. I was able to go onto the Prevue Pet Products website but I am not a dealer so I can't purchase them. Appreciate your time, Diane

How on earth do you empty it with out spilling? It seems like it is large and pretty heavy, then add some liquid in there? I am interested in this product but have no idea how to carry it to the bathroom to empty with out banging into something and spilling.

Answer by ChewyMay 16, 2019
Tinkle Turf features a lightweight and portable tray with quality turf that is constructed with a flow-through backing material, allowing liquid to drain into the tray base to allow easy disposal.

How can I training my dog to use this turf?

Answer by ChewySep 24, 2018
Take your dog to the turf system frequently. A puppy can only control his bladder one hour for every month of his age. Put your dog on a leash and walk him to the pee pad every two hours, as well as upon waking, after playing and after eating. Say “go potty” and wait for results.

Is this plastic and/or does it feel like real grass Is it absorbent like grass?

Answer by ChewyMay 14, 2018
The grass is realistic quality, soft and synthetic turf, with anti-microbial odor control which is easy to clean with warm water and dish soap, rinsing it, and then letting it air dry.

Better than expected

I was so unsure about this, but I was desperate to help my anxious country dog feel better after we moved to the city. I was also worried that he’s almost 10 years old and wouldn’t take to being “potty trained” to go on astroturf on the patio - but he did it. I left it inside for a few days and put treats on it, so when he passed by it he would step on it to get the treats. After a few days of that, I put it outside the patio door. When it wastime for him to go outside, I would take him there first and get all four paws in the tinkle turf and would tell him to do his pee-pees. He wouldn’t go, so we would go right outside and he would do pee-pees there. We didn’t this every time he needed to go out for about 4 days, and then one night it clicked for him! He went pee pee and I made a super big deal about it, including treats. Now, it’s his first pee stop in the early morning and his last pee stop before bed. This eliminates 2x of going out each day. We take him out for all other business, but eliminating two “scary” walks in the city has helped his anxiety so much. It’s very easy to clean. We do it 1x/day and it takes 5-7 minutes. I rinse it well with thebl hose. I stand the base up to dry and lay the turf in the sun to dry. Definitely recommend.

We live in an apartment with a balcony - this mat has been a life saver and hugely helpful in the potty training of our puppy. We got her at 8 weeks old and now she is just over 10 weeks old. We do take her outside the apartment to go potty throughout the day, but because of the frequency of which needs to urinate, we have this on our balcony and keep the door open and she just trots out there herself to use it now. We had to train her in the beginning to use it, but now she uses it on her own. It's also super helpful for middle of the night potty breaks. I imagine that in the future when her bladder is bigger, we won't need to rely on this, but for now it's so convenient! The only downside of this mat, which seems completely unavoidable, is the smell - and cleaning it isn't super convenient in an apartment. Our balcony gets a lot of sun and the heat + urine smell can be pretty unpleasant. We don't have a personal yard and a hose where we can spray it down, so we take the mat into our bathtub and wash it with dishsoap, vinegar, and hot water. We've washed it twice now but probably need to do it more. We also put pee pads underneath the grass, so that we can just throw those out and every now and then we'll spray the bottom tray with vinegar/water and wipe it off. Still giving it 5 stars because I don't think the smell is a product design flaw, just the reality of apartment living. I would also love if they sold replacement grass (don't need a new black tray) that we could buy but I don't see anything on Chewy.com.

Delicious Treats

I actually tasted a bit of one. I am very picky when it comes to my service dog. She absolutely loves them.

I put this large grass mat on the outdoor balcony (in a warm climate) to potty train my puppy (who was about 10 weeks when I adopted her). I use the Frisco mega potty pads between the grass and the plastic tray, which are absorbent and keep the smell minimal between changing them out and cleaning the grass and tray. This system has worked brilliantly for us.
