This food did the trick for our shepherd, who had a tendency to get allergies and irritated skin with some other food types. Only drawbacks are that we need to mix in some ground beef to make it appealling for him, that the food is kind of crumbly and grainy at bottom of bag (not sure if it is old, not handled carefully?), and high cost... but will definitely continue buying since it agrees with his stomach.
I have a poodle and a doodle, and their stomachs are super sensitive, so all the major food brands never worked for them. However, now that my dogs are experiencing some skin allergies, I needed to change their food to something other than chicken or beef that was also not grain free. This was recommended, and I was skeptical, but it has been amazing! My pups have normal poops and they also love it and eat it all every time I feed them! Great food. I am very happy with it!
Our dog loves the taste but omg the gas. We are going to have to switch even though we just bought a whole huge bag. No improvement on the skin front, and no solid poops on this food. And all the reviews that say it is powdery. They are right. It is a problem. It is like every scoop has a few tablespoons of kibble dust in it and if you have a bearded beast like we do. ick. Overall not the product we were hoping for.
My dog is a 60+ lb pittie, 6 years old. He has sensitive skin and sensitive tummy issues. He also prefers larger kibble. This food checks all of those boxes. His tummy is better, his poops are better, his skin is better, and he really enjoys the food. He never usually cleans the bowl, but now he does. I'm very happy with this food. I've tried at least 10 different dog food brands, and I think this one is the best one so far.
I purchased this food for my two senior labs.We had previously fed them a different proplan formula but i could not justify the price of the food for so much corn in the ingredient list. So we went with this flavor. My dogs do not have skin issues and the only digestion issues come from them eating stuff they aren't supposed to. They are labs, that is what they do We open the bag and scoop out the first serving and notice a lot of crumbs. That was odd but maybe it was just a couple crushed kibble from shipping. The further down the bag we get the crumbs have changed to dust.My dogs get 1 cup of kibble and when it hits the bowl, about 1/4 of it is pure dust. Beside the dust issue, i have to noticed that this is a large breed specific formula with very large kibbles. I mean for 13 years i have been buying large breed formula and have never encountered such large kibble. Something to consider if you have older dogs who have trouble chewing.
I’ve seen reviews of people complaining of the price/smell. If you’ve been feeding your dogs this specific food, you’d know it has a fishy smell. Also yes it’s pricey, but it’s cheaper than it is in the stores. Overall great food and very convenient especially for a few bucks cheaper. As a vet tech this is one of the three brands my veterinarians recommend and it does wonders for my sensitive dogs !
My recently adopted 6-year-old German shepherd has a very sensitive stomach. His previous owners had been feeding him this food for many years. Even with the stress of a new home, all has been good--no GI or other distress. Will keep him on this food even though other two dogs eat a different one.
Had been having problems with my dogs and their stomachs, the recommendation was changing to a different protein. They love the salmon and cannot get enough. Still working on the stomach issues but the dogs love the food and it seems to have improved and their Coats are much nicer.
I'm trying different brands since my GSD's have sensitive stomach es and allergies. This one smelt awful when I opened the bag. My older dog didn't touch it. The younger one ate some but I also caught her eating her own poop after I fed this food. She never done that before. Will not buy this again and won't continue to feed to my dogs.
Finally found dog food that she will eat and has stopped scratching I knew pro plan would be a good dog food because I had gotten a prescription dog food that was pro plan did not work found she is allergic to chicken
