Our 3 year old Chocolate lab had Diarra issues and what we thought was urinary tract issues, we spent $700./$800. Every couple of weeks to the vet with no good results We chose another vet and he said she had a probiotic problem and put her on this. She has been on this now for 5 months and her problems are solved. By the way, our 13 year old pick eater shitzu likes it to.
My 80 lb. GSD had been having nasty diarrhea for several weeks. We went to his vet and went through 2 rounds of medication, etc. After some blood tests, the vet suggested this food. A prescription was required, and that was a bit of a problem because she wrote the wrong food on the first one. After correcting it, the food was shipped quickly. She had suggested I buy the 8 lb. bag so see if it worked, but I ordered the 16 lb. bag. After following the strategy for starting a new food (decreasing amount of chicken and rice with increasing proportion of the food. Now, he's eating only the new food with a little bit of pumpkin puree mixed in. If you have a picky eater, add a bit of pumpkin to it (puree - not pumpkin pie mix!) The dry food doesn't look appetizing to me, but he loves it.
For some reason, my dog didn’t like it. I think it’s bland. She eats the EN canned food but this kibble didn’t cut it. I’d love to add a photo of the look on her face when I put her bowl in front of her. LOL!
A couple of days ago, I completed Gigi's transition. So far I would have to say "things" have improved. We are not presently doing any field training. However, it won't be long before that "starts up" again. We will see what happens then. I would add that she seems much more relaxed.
Have a 13 year old dog that was recently diagnosed with diabetes. We have tried so many different types of food both prescriptive and non... She seems to really love this food both in the dry and canned formula!!! Once ordered, we received it very fast! Anyone knows that if you have a diabetic dog, the food piece is critical!! We are thankful we found some thing that she eats!!!
My little miniature schnauzer is almost 14 now. He has pancreatitis and needs prescription food. The vet lets you pick the brand, but what they don’t tell you is a lot of the food is low calorie in addition to low fat. He recently started losing weight drastically and has some new health concerns. With Chewy, I was able to research the fat and calorie content to ensure his prescription food had the desired fat content without less calories. We switched to a Purina pro-plan quickly and easily. I am happy to report my little guy has gained weight and is now maintaining an appropriate weight. Thanks Chewy for having a great selection of products and the appropriate nutrition details to assist me in making informed decisions for a very important family member.
After surgery my dog needed prescription food. Unknown to me, there was a delay in receiving the paperwork from my vet. Chewy's kept me informed so I could contact my vet to insure the order was filled and delivered in time.
My vet prescribed this diet after my dog went through a rough patch of gastroenteritis. He was having diarrhea almost every hour and pretty much refused a bland diet of chicken/beef and rice. This food worked within the first feeding and by day 2-3 he was back to having normal bowel movements. He’s on his second bag and will most likely be on it permanently. He is a picky eater but he will gobble this stuff down and has probably eaten more consumption wise than any other regular dog food he’s had.
Was treated with patience and respect! Received excellent information and had all my questions answered.
Our vet suggested Pro Plan Gastroenteric Veterinary Diet. Our pooch has had stomach issues forever. Some days, poop is normal. Then other days for some reason, you'd think she was part goose. I had tried other brands that supposedly where for stomach/poop issues but really didn't help her very much. After trying Pro Plan for a few days - WOW!!! What a difference. No more "part goose".
