How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

The dog loved it and we need a bigger bag
By Gabi on Oct 4, 2020
An 18 lb bag was sent by me to my son's dog along with the other brand we used for a while for his joint support being a very big dog. I thought to add this and maybe put out two bowls half and half. The 18 lb bag is gone and I need to call if there is a 40 lb bag available. I got good feedback as you can tell from my son.

Dog loves it
By Ricky on Oct 11, 2020
We had to switch prescription dog foods because my Rottweiler wasn’t eating his old stuff. Every time we put this in his dog dish he devours it.

Pep in his step
By Beth on May 12, 2020
My dog has been on the food for a few weeks, we mix with his other food, a 50/50 blend for now to slowly move to 100% joint mobility food and it seems to have helped. Our walks in the woods have been more active and as the day moves on he does not seem as stiff towards the evening hours.

Don't buy this
By Maggie on Feb 25, 2020
We have several dogs, tried this since one has joint issues and one has hip issues. The food is very "dry" you have to mix canned food with it to get the dogs to even think about eating it. It has not helped their joints. We changed to Hills Science and the dogs are moving better.

HOPE IT WORKS
By BASIA on Jan 29, 2020
My companion, a beautiful senior golden retriever named Rosie has been diagnosed with degenerative neuropathy. This is affecting her back legs. She’s a bit wobbly and will occasionally lose her balance. My hurt aches to see her like this. Vet has her on meds and recommended this food. It’s $100 for 31 lb. bag. I’m a senior on very limited resources. I’m going to have to mix this prescribed food with her regular food and just hope for the best. Goal is to get her off the meds and avoid as much pain as possible. Rosie is my daily companion.

Older Labrador likes the food, it just doesn't come out the other end very well
By Orbit on Dec 18, 2019
Our vet recommended this food and said it was the one she found to produce the best stools and helps with arthritis. We took a while to transition onto this food and now that we are fully on this food our dog has been pooping in her sleep. The poops are pretty oily and gross. We are going to switch back to firstmate because of the higher fiber content. We did not find any improvement with mobility on this food.

Amazing Product
By Marie on Nov 19, 2019
I started my two senior dogs on Mobility and I can't believe the difference in their energy. My veterinarian recommended this food for my American Bulldog who has arthritis and tendonitis and his pain level has been reduced significantly.

Great Results
By HotFlash on Jul 31, 2019
I have 2 dogs with fairly serious joint and arthritis as well as hip Dysplisia . after 2 weeks I am seeing an improvement in both. they both loved the food from the beginning which surprised me since they tend to be finicky ( which I do not put up with you eat what I give you or be hungry!') wouldn't let my kids get away with it certainly won't let the dog people!
