Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

Dax' Dr. Stated that his Kidney levels were high, but not high to have great concern (I hate when Dr's say that, then they don't do, or suggest anything until its too high) So I thought to jump on the train early so I can gain a bit of control on his health. It wasnt a week that he started chewing on himself, itching, scratching until his hair was out from his legts, feet, ears, it was horrible. He was so miserable that he would literally LEAP off of his bed, try to get comfortable, wanna go outside in the cold, come back in, and then out again. I read where the cold can lessen the irritation. I eventually was able to find a mobile vet after too many ill attitudes by local vets, but this one was just as bad. But he came, gavec2 injections and prednisone without further instructions but to text him, which I didnt gain replies. So Ive been lowering his dose and went back to the Blue Buffalo and bought Purina ProPlan Fortiflora, bevause he now as gas that he has NEVER had before. I Read that the prescription can cause that in dogs. Yet, vets tell you nothing these days. Ill give him 1/4 a prednisone tablet every two days and it helps when he starts itching again. I fear that he may have to stay on prednisone now. But along with the Fortiflora, I have given him 100% Pumpkin Puree, and fat free plain yogurt with 6 live active cultures to help regain good bacteria. But this was in Oct 2025 and all his hair has now grown back, but still having slight iching issues where I have to interrupt him so he doesnt keep licking or chewing.
Journey loves this but it doesn't love her as of yet.
We ordered this on 1/24/26. We have been adding 1/4 cup to her regular food but she is continually gassy and having soft stools everyday. Has anyone else experienced
We ordered this on 1/24/26. We have been adding 1/4 cup to her regular food but she is continually gassy and having soft stools everyday. Has anyone else experienced this at first? How long does it take to be able to increase the amount with no unfavorable results with gastro upset? She does love it. Gets very excited to eat it!!
Kibble too big for 35 pound beagle mix
I looked for this food in a smaller kibble size, but apparently they don’t make it. The individual kibble size is quite large. I actually put some of the kibble
I looked for this food in a smaller kibble size, but apparently they don’t make it. The individual kibble size is quite large. I actually put some of the kibble in between two towels, took a hammer and tried to crush them into smaller sizes, but he still wasn’t interested.
Larvae in this dry food
I ordered this prescription food for my 1 year old diagnosed with congenital kidney disease. I should’ve done more resting purina foods it seems the pro plan line
I ordered this prescription food for my 1 year old diagnosed with congenital kidney disease. I should’ve done more resting purina foods it seems the pro plan line commonly has larvae present. I will not feed my dog this food I’m taking her to the vet to be wormed. Absolutely disgusted and disappointed at this costly food. This food is stored in a plastic container, dry in the pantry air tight.
If I could give this 10 stars I would.

I needed dog food close to Christmas. This was the first time I placed an order for Rx dog food. Customer service went above and beyond contacting my vet and getting everything I needed in place for Chewy to ship it. The best part was it came 2 days earlier than I was expecting it it come.
My dog likes this diet, however quality is far less these
Unfortunately, we have to buy this expensive food for our Bernie doodle.. she likes it, & it has helped her. Unfortunately the 25lb. bag no longer last a full month
Unfortunately, we have to buy this expensive food for our Bernie doodle.. she likes it, & it has helped her. Unfortunately the 25lb. bag no longer last a full month like it has in the past. The quantity is far less these days. . I wish they would make a 35 pound bag., or go back to the quantity it use to hold. A 25lb bag does not do it for large canines. I am disappointed that the quantity seems to be less now in the bag of a 25 pound.. please consider going back to more in the Bag, or offering an affordable 35lb. Bag.
Really did improve our dogs kidney levels!

Our dog has been managing congestive heart failure for almost two years now. Back in the summer, when we met with the vet, her said her kidney levels were too high to allow for any increase in her diuretic, if needed. We asked then about kidney food and this one was sold at the vet, so we bought it. Long story short, not only does our dog enjoy eating the food; her kidney levels are now back in normal range (yay!). We are pleased.
My dog likes it, and it's working
My 15-year old boy was diagnosed with stage 3 CKD about a month ago. We tried a couple of prescription kidney diets, but he didn't really like them. One he refused
My 15-year old boy was diagnosed with stage 3 CKD about a month ago. We tried a couple of prescription kidney diets, but he didn't really like them. One he refused to eat. I finally decided to try a bag of Pro Plan NF kibble, as he has eaten Pro Plan products most of his life, and I was hoping it would be familiar enough to him he would eat it. Sure enough, he likes it and has been eating it for over 2 weeks now. Better yet, we just did some follow up blood work, and both his creatinine and BUN have decreased. It seems to agree with him, as his digestion has been perfect. One thing to consider is it's a pretty high calorie food, so if your dog is struggling with poor appetite, he or she will not need to eat a large amount of it to get enough calories. It looks like my dog has gained a pound or 2 since I switched him to it, which I'm really happy about.
My dog ate it!
My do (who is 13) went from drinking sooo much and actually peeping herself to 100% back to her normal self. I make her natural dog treats and natural dog food (low
My do (who is 13) went from drinking sooo much and actually peeping herself to 100% back to her normal self. I make her natural dog treats and natural dog food (low in protein, phosphate and salt) with this kibble. It’s like she’s no longer being “poisoned”. I even cut her ACE inhibitor down to 25%. It’s amazing what a (strict) diet has done for her but she still enjoys her food!
It made my dog so sick we had to go to the emergency vet.
After 2 days of eating this food my dog became so sick I had to take her to the emergency vet. 600$ dollars later and alot of medicine to prevent her from vomiting
After 2 days of eating this food my dog became so sick I had to take her to the emergency vet. 600$ dollars later and alot of medicine to prevent her from vomiting I am currently praying she get better. We are on day 3 of her being absolutely sick. She can't keep food of any kind down or water. She's on medication to help prevent the vomiting however she's not wanting to eat now and hardly drinking water. I am so upset. I'm not sure if it is just this batch of food or what but this needs to be recalled. I will be calling Purina Monday morning to report this.
