A couple of years ago my vet suggested an amino acid supplement for my senior mare. Purina Super Sport was on the list of possible ones to try. For some reason I got a different one at that time. But when the opportunity to try Purina Super Sport came up I decided to give it a go, since Purina brand is always dependably good quality. It's much too early to see if it is making a difference in her muscle tone, (which is why I gave it 4 stars), but at this point I can say that it is a budget-friendly product and apparently quite palatable. My horse eats it right up. It requires 1 Cup of the pellets per day, so it will be interesting to see how long one bag will last.

Great option for building Topline!

I was hesitant to try this amino supplement as I have had other supplements make horses hot. This one is a great option for additional protein without the hot behavior

I was hesitant to try this amino supplement as I have had other supplements make horses hot. This one is a great option for additional protein without the hot behavior. I have both a senior on this for added Topline and a colt. I’m happy with their Topline using this and will continue, the feeding rate is low, and therefore the expense per pound is reasonable. I feed all other purina products and I like to stay within the same company. My only hesitation is the sugar amount, however the two horses receiving this are looking great and the sugar is irrelevant to them.

I already feed Purina feed (ultium senior) at my farm with two retired horses and had not tried this before. I was curious about it because a five year old warmblood I own who lives at another farm gets this. I am feeding it to my two older horses now hoping to improve their toplines and coat condition. They are quite active for “retired” horses. They’ve only been on it for a couple weeks so it is a bit early to see a difference but I can say it is easy to feed and it is palatable; both horses eat it readily

It's too early to detect results, but as a cell biologist I can attest to the importance of amino acid bioavailability for protein synthesis and muscle building. There is a chart on the bag indicating how much to feed your horse. This is for sport horses but I feel it could be useful for seniors, or for rescued/underfed horses.

My guy is very fussy when it comes to supplements, he won’t touch anything in powder form and is very very selective about pellets flavors but eats this without issue. I also like that it comes in bags instead of buckets.
