Real Mushrooms offers a variety of options for your pet to make administration easy. The dosage will be listed on the side of the bottle/package. Soft chews can be given as treats, and most pets love their taste. They have a tasty flavor that your pet should love.
The mushroom powders can be mixed into pet food. If feeding dry food, you can add some mushroom powder & water to make a “gravy”. You have a variety of options with capsules. You can open the capsules and sprinkle them on your pets’ food. You can also hide the capsule in a pill pocket or other tasty treat (cheese, small amount of butter, meatball, etc).
If your pet still won’t take the capsule, powder, or chew, consider talking to your DVM about how to best administer these mushroom products to your pet.
Since mushrooms are “functional” foods, they can be given with or without food. You may find that for the capsules and powder forms of the mushroom products giving with some food, or with meals is much easier and convenient and in the long run, over time, will ensure that your pet gets the mushrooms daily, which is most likely to ensure a healthy response. 5 Defenders is a blend of extracts of Reishi, Shiitake, Maitake, Turkey Tail mushrooms and Chaga. It is an immune-supportive blend- you can think of it as a mushroom multi-vitamin.
Here is the breakdown of our 5 defenders blend:
90 mg of Turkey tail 60 mg of Reishi 60 mg of Maitake 60 mg of Shiitake 30 mg of Chaga
= 300 mg of total mushroom extract per serving (1 capsules )
Our capsules are the traditional format for supplements. Many animals will accept capsules just mixed with some tasty food, maybe stuffed into a section of hot dog, liverwurst, or coated with their favorite wet food, low-fat cream cheese, raw ground beef, peanut butter (xylitol free!) or other sticky, tasty foods.
You could also look into pill pockets to help hide the capsule.
They can be administered directly into the mouth, followed by a treat, which forces your dog to swallow the capsule to get the treat. For some dogs that is not a problem. For others, it's an impossible dream. Giving a treat after giving a capsule in a pill or wrapped in some food will also force your dog to swallow the treat with the capsule in order to get the next treat.
Soft chews are ultimately the tastiest option. Most soft chews are so tasty there is rarely a problem with acceptance by dogs, but there can be exceptions to that rule.
Most dogs will eat soft chews readily. But, if they are reluctant, you can crumble our chews and blend them in with some tasty wet food that your dog loves, and that may work.
Using less of the chew at first when blending it into some tasty food may work better if your dog won’t accept the entire soft chew crumbled into the food.

Cats like them but dosing difficult

I'm always on the lookout for calming supplements for my cats to make stressful situations, like car rides, easier on them. These are marketed for both cats and dogs, but I think are designed more for dogs. The dosage is 1 soft chew per 20lbs of bodyweight, which is more than the average cat weighs (although my beloved orange, Big Claude, is certainly close to it). The chews themselves are very big, but also crumble when you try to cut them apart for smaller cats which can make dosing difficult. That being said, both Benjamin and Claude ate the small pieces of chew I gave them, so they are palatable to cats. It's hard to say if they actually helped the boys relax, since I wasn't subjecting them to anything stressful, but they both settled down for naps shortly after being given the chews so I'd say they work at least a little bit.

They either dont do a thing to calm him or you have to force him to eat it. This chew was different. It has all natural ingredients with proven track records of calming both animals and humans. And it tastes so good my dog thinks hes getting a treat. It has helped balance my dogs craziness. And also helps him relax during long car rides or trips to the groomer. Barney approves and recommends this for sure.

All the new faces and smells have really stressed out my guardian dogs and I was forced to confine them or try to remove them from the new people. These chews have been so helpful as some of the subcontractors are people that only come once and we don’t have enough time for my dogs to adapt to every individual. I like that the first ingredient is chicken liver; that is a favorite of my dogs. My dogs readily eat these, no questions asked. They are soft and appear easy to chew. I’m happy to have a natural option instead of drugging my guardian dogs and having to wait for an Rx to wear off.

Both of my picky eaters were very curious and very interested in the supplement as soon as I opened the tub. My little guy gets especially nervous when traveling so these are going to be perfect to have around anytime we have to go for a car ride or take a trip to the vet.

I was skeptical at first as to whether this product would help calm her down. She enjoys the cubes and allows me to trim her nails without all the drama.
Does the job
I usually don't notice a difference in my pets when it comes to relaxing treats but these worked very well with my dog. She is very anxious and always hiding in

She is very anxious and always hiding in her safe spaces around the house but with these she was more outgoing and walking about. I tried giving some treats to my cat's however they did not want anything to do with these. They usually aren't picky especially when it comes to food but I think it was the smell of the treats that turned them away. The treats are very soft so I tried mixing it into their food and they still wanted noting to do with the treats.

This is the only calming chew I can get my pup to take when he is panicking. My pup hates storms and we have tried everything we can to help him. Every other chew

Every other chew or drops we’ve tried he would just spit out almost immediately. These he will actually take. It’s too soon to comment on how it is affecting him but we’re currently in a rainy season and I’m eager to see if these will help him more!

Both of my dogs like the flavor of these and ate them readily with no struggle. Dosing is 1 chew per 20 lbs, so my 75 lb Golden took 4 and my 45 lb Toller took 3. Honestly, I didn’t notice much difference in their anxiety levels once they ate the chews, but I’m not sure if adaptogens are designed to work on the first dose, or if they have to take them consistently for a period of time to see an effect. There wasn’t anything printed on the container that I saw to indicate either way.

One sniff and “no not even going to try it” and off she goes. So was very concerned when the Real Mushrooms Mushroom Relax Soft Chewy came. If she would not try them I could not review. But what a surprise, she took it and did not even stop to smell it. This was just a try to see if she took it. There was no stress reason to give to her but she did appear very happy to not go out to chase something in the yard. She hates the car and needed to go to the vet so a perfect time to see how it affected her in her most stressed time. It worked very well, she barely panted at all. So the taste for particular dogs seems good and I saw it work with stress. So when this container is gone I will definitely get another to keep for car rides and thunderstorms/lightening they terrify her.
