I snipped the bell off (indoor cats don't need it) and surely it must be irritating to have a bell "tinkle" with your every movement! Nylon collars often have rough edges that can irritate delicate cat skin, but I soften these by exposing the rough edges briefly to a lit flame of a match. It melts the edge and smooths it right off.

We recently took in two kittens who were dumped in a park and couldn't find a rescue to take them, so we kept them. Our current cats had Red Dingo collars and they have held up really well: not easy for the cats to remove them, but still break away if they get stuck. We had kitten collars we bought locally, but the one kitten kept taking off her collar and running around naked. Normally I wouldn't care, except we use smart feeders to keep our dog and our fat cat out of the other cats' food, and especially out of the kitten food. So without a collar, she didn't have the tag to open the feeder. This happened numerous times to both kittens, and until they are microchipped (less than a month away!), they have to wear the tags for the feeder. So far they haven't been able to pull the Red Dingo collars off. Every Red Dingo collar I've bought (maybe 5 or 6 now) has been great quality and they hold up well. My fat princess needs a new one because she is hard on collars, but in her collar's defense, she's a huge girl (some sort of large breed mix), so her collar looks small compared to the other cats' collars. Her collar is actually adjusted to nearly as big as it can go -- she has a big neck to go with the rest of her. I love all of the available designs, and this one is no different. Because the two kittens looks very similar, we wanted two different colors to tell them apart easier. Our Lyra got the aqua bumblebee and our Callisto got the purple "Breezy Love," which is what my fat princess wears in pink. I absolutely love the bumblebee collar! It was a tough decision between that an blue camo, but aqua seemed to fit my little girl better. Honestly, the biggest problem with Red Dingo collars is deciding which one you want. I usually go with one that matches the cat's personality and interests, like my tuna-loving boy had the fish collar, and my black cat has skulls and roses. And don't forget to get a Red Dingo name tag to go with your collar!

The collar is cute. It seems to break away easily should it get hung on something while our cat is "on the hunt". However the bell hardly makes a sound when kitty moves. The birds don't seem to be alerted to his presence. If the bells were made out of metal with a metal ball inside it could probably be better heard.
