I would consider this a mid-range food, but in all fairness, my 8 dogs all loved it. I try to stick to foods that don’t have seed/vegetable oils, corn, wheat, soy, or animal by-products. This specific food doesn’t contain any of those items. (If I recall correctly, the other flavors of this food do contain seed oils, which is why I opted to try this flavor for my dogs.) The first two ingredients are turkey and chicken, which is the very first thing I look for in a dog food. I prefer my dogs to eat a whole-prey diet, if possible. This food does, however, contain chicken, turkey, and duck meal, which aren’t my top choice, and quite a few starchy vegetables and legumes. I would prefer that it didn’t contain animal meals and would love to see them use more dog-safe fruits and vegetables that are nutrient rich and not just considered fillers. That being said, I wouldn’t mind feeding this food to my dogs occasionally. Sometimes they get tired of eating their usual food, so giving them something different for a few days is a nice change for them. Red Barn is a family owned business that offers a nice guarantee to exchange the food or refund your money if your dog(s) does not like the food.

My 40 pound, one year old rescue (Rat Terrier/ Australian Shepherd mix) doesn’t like any foods after about 3 servings. We need to add all kinds of toppings and mix ins to entice her to eat. This food was a different story, however, and she’s eaten almost the whole bag. I’m especially happy because the ingredients sound really healthy. It might be a little pricey compared to some but I think it’s worth it for the quality of food and how much my dog likes it.
