How do these work? Is there a video anywhere to explain?

Answer by ChewyJan 15, 2018
The first step in clipping your pet’s nails is making sure they’re calm and secure. Hold your pet, or have someone else hold them securely, but calmly. Also, make sure they can’t move their paws around too much. If your pet gets fussy, feed them a treat and continue the process.Next, hold the paw in your hand and snip the tip of the nail off. If your pet has clear nails, you should be able to see the location of the quick inside. If the nail is black you won’t be able to see the quick. Just snip the very tip of the nail. The quick is the inner part of the nail, if clipped it will bleed. Don’t be afraid if it does, take some styptic powder and apply it to the wound. This will clot up almost immediately.Continue through every nail and don’t forget the Dewclaw.

Which way do you cut? Should the blade go up under the nail? Down on top of it? Cut from the side?

Answer by ChewyOct 17, 2020
It would be easier to cup from under and up the nail.

Are these small? I need for cats.

Answer by ChewyMay 28, 2018
The dimensions are approximately 5 x 3.5 x 0.5 inches. They are made for use with cats.

Can these be used for rabbits or are they too big?

Answer by ChewyNov 10, 2019
These clippers can be used for small animals such as rabbits.

Scissors worked better on my cat toe nails

These ended up mashing my kitty’s toe nails, not cutting them cleanly. I had hoped the additional cost meant they would be more effective. They didn’t work for me

Sturdy, classic, American.

This has been the model of cat nail clipper I've used since the 90s. I only ever need to buy in when I give a friend or family member my current model. Easy to sharpen

Not impressed

I was super disappointed, these are not sharp enough, they just crushed her nails instead of cutting them. I don't recommend these.

Dog not buy these

This review has nothing to do against Chewy, my fur babies and I love Chewy. I just bought these and the only explanation I can think of is whoever was in charge

This review has nothing to do against Chewy, my fur babies and I love Chewy. I just bought these and the only explanation I can think of is whoever was in charge of sharpening the blade on these missed a step. I used these for the "FIRST" time today and they are so dull i split some of my cats nails, some nails I couldn't even cut. What a waste of money. They don't make these like they used to. Very sad

Easy to use

This is my first time owning a cat and these clippers make it so easy to trim my kitty’s death mittens. No loud noises so my cat isn’t even startled!
