can you open capsule and mix in food

Answer by ChewySep 05, 2021
The capsules can be opened and and mixed with your cat's food.

What size are the capsules? Can we please see a picture?

Answer by ChewyOct 28, 2020
We were unable to attain a photo of the pill. The Feline capsules technically speaking are size 2 and this is relatively small compared to most human or animal supplements and not too large to be administered directly into a cat’s mouth. That said, many owners are uneasy doing this, so if this is the case, here’s what we suggest; using a pill dispenser or heat up wet cat food ahead of giving to the cat and after it is heated up, place the pill in the center of the food. The capsule wall will then melt and then its contents can be stirred into the food and eaten by the cat.

Pain to give to cats

My 8yr old cat was recently diagnosed with arthritis in his elbow, I’ve been searching for a supplement for him and this one checked all the boxes. I think the ingredient combination could do a world of help for joints, heart, brain and ocular help. I thought when I purchased these they would be a gel cap I could pierce or cut open and squeeze out the oil inside on his food. That is not the case. I have been unable to open these at all, provided they make a sticky mess trying, and they are on the larger side. I’d guess capsule size 2. I tried hiding these in snacks, cream cheese, pill pockets etc. unfortunately my cat is too angry to want to pull everyday for a supplement. And so the search continues.

It's a pain to administer.

I like this supplement but it's so hard to administer and even if you open up the capsule, it's a mess because the contents are sticky and can't mix well in food

I like this supplement but it's so hard to administer and even if you open up the capsule, it's a mess because the contents are sticky and can't mix well in food or get all of it out! I like the ingredients and it's function but they should really make a type that isn't a pain to give.

My cat was diagnosed with a variety of issues two of them included poor eyesight (he’s only 5) and a heart murmur. I asked my vet about a supplement and he wasn’t totally sure so I did some research and came across this. He’s been on it for awhile now and doing great. I’m not sure how effective it is but he definitely hasn’t gotten worse. Despite the pills rather large appearance (1/4 inch in length) wrapping it in a BilJac dog treat makes giving it hassle free. I also have success poking it into his wet food. I cannot comment on the effectiveness as I cannot test his eyesight and heart murmur myself but overall I’m pleased and would recommend this.
