Does it record?

If you do not have a Ring Protect Plan, Ring does not record or store your videos, but you can still view your device's live video stream (Live View). If you do have a Ring Protect Plan (including a free trial), Ring records and stores videos when motion is detected by your device (including motion detected via Linked Devices), the video doorbell button is pressed, or you initiate Live View. Stored recordings are automatically deleted following the expiration of your Ring Protect Plan’s applicable storage period.

What is the camera angle width? Does it see (and record) at 180 degrees wide?

The field of view is 155 degrees horizontal and 90 degrees vertical with a 16:9 aspect ratio. With a Ring Protect plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings from your Ring devices to your Ring account. Ring Protect plans are available for purchase with a monthly or annual subscription.

The Ring Doorbell provides a motion-activated video feed of your front door. We find this gives us peace of mind. You can also check the video feed any time from the app, we use this feature to double-check the garage door is closed. Installation is easy. This version can be installed either as battery-only or as a wired doorbell. Installation consists of installing 3 screws to establish a baseplate, then clicking in your Ring Doorbell. Subscription plans are required to access basic features like video recording, notifications, etc. This costs $4 per month. More premium plans exist for customers looking for additional features. The app experience is great, and using it gives you insight into the neighborhood chatter. Things like missing pets, porch pirates, wildlife sightings, etc.
