We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Took a few tries but my kitten likes it
By nomnomi on Jan 24, 2021
I was a little surprised by the consistency because I thought it'd be even a bit softer but it's still a nice, soft consistency. It took a couple times for my kitten to warm up to it but he eats this all up! I don't feed him just this though because he's a little bit older (a little over 3 months) and because in the ingredients, meat by-products are some of the top ingredients. My kitten is growing and is very energetic!

Also great for injured and sick cats!
By CalicoQueensHuman on Dec 30, 2020
This food was invaluable when my middle-aged cat had dental problems, causing her dry kibble (Royal Canin) to hurt her mouth when crunching. Kept up her strength and health while waiting for oral surgery, and sustained her for the weeks of healing afterwards. She never ate any of the many other canned foods I tried, but loved this one. Just sent a case of this canned food, and a bag of "Royal Canin Mother & Babycat" kibble to my brother, who recently adopted a sick kitten, who he says is gobbling it up, and doing well.

Rescue babies love it
By MBWADD on Jan 3, 2021
We found two kittens in the rain in October. They were two days old, according to our vet. So we bottle fed them and, when it was time to wean them, we introduced Royal Cabin Mother and Babycat. They love it. I'm watching them grow into strong little girls and I'm so gratified knowing they're getting the nutrition they need.

Perfect for young kittens
By Colzi on Dec 28, 2020
A stray kitten found me a couple weeks ago and didn't know how to eat food (must have still been nursing). I started her on formula and then eventually started mixing this in with formula for her transition to solid foods. The mousse-like texture is easier for her to eat than regular kitten wet food. She loves it and has transitioned well to solid foods with this.

Elderly Arthritic Lady Cat is Thriving on This Food
By kukana228 on Oct 30, 2020
I have four cats--a 16 year old elderly arthritic female, two healthy midlife adults, and a six month old kitten. Originally purchased this food for our young kitten who seemed to enjoy it very much. Now our kitten has transitioned herself mostly to the food bowls with the other cats' adult food, but we find that our elderly arthritic lady cat is eating this food--Canin's mother and baby cat-- almost exclusively. And she is Thriving! She is even playing with our other cats--even chasing them at a running gait! Something I have not seen in a very long time. Her calico coat is beautiful, soft and lustrous. She seems happy and content. There are still issues with her balance and stiffness maybe I have four cats--a 16 year old elderly arthritic female, two healthy midlife adults, and a six month old kitten. soft texture, appealing to older cats
By Anne on Dec 1, 2020
I give this as a treat to an older cat that has a hard time keeping the weight on and is very picky about food. likes something one day, but not the next. BUT always likes this. It is kinda pricey and is meant for kittens, but always works the trick to get him to eat something!

Kittens loved this
By Tree on Dec 19, 2020
fed this to my two kittens, through 4 months of age. They dove right in and ate 3 cans a day, between the two, and that's with the dry formula available at all times. It's a pate so soft for baby kittens.

Perfect for a stray mama
By Jenna on Oct 3, 2020
My husband found a sweet, starving cat in the mountains in western NC while caring for his elderly grandfather. He wasn't able to find it's family so after a week so he brought it home. She was skin and bones...but she had a beer belly. We took her to the vet who confirmed she was pregnant. Other than starving and being pretty young to have kittens, under a year old, she was healthy. Two weeks later she had four kittens in the middle of our dining room. From the time we got the confirmation she was pregnant, we switched her to this food to try to get weight on her faster and give more nutrition to the developing kittens. She loved this food. She didn't want to eat between kittens being born, but afterwards she ate two and a half cans of the big 5-ounce size. She's a very small cat, I'm amazed she was able to eat that much. We continued to feed her this food, as well as the kibble version, while she nursed the kittens, who are five weeks old today. Her four kittens, all super healthy, will also get this food now that it's time to consider weaning. This food changed a skin and bones, dull-eyed, rough coated stray into a gorgeous, sleek, bright eyed and playful mama cat. It really brought out her beauty. She doesn't look like the same cat. I don't doubt it contributed to the health of her kittens. I'd recommend this food for any mama cats and their kittens. … more

My little guy loves this stuff!!
By furMomma on Sep 29, 2020
When my little guy was ready for solids. A friend gave me some wet food just to see if he was ready to wean. The food she gave me had small amounts of milk. He didn’t like it that much.. so I kept bottle feeding another week and tired again with the same product of wet food. Nothing, wouldn’t even go near it. So I ordered royal canin cause my last cat loved this stuff when she was little.. As soon as the order came. I opened a can and some dry food (royal canin baby cat) in his bowl. He immediately went face first into his food bowl!! He was a thin little guy and now he’s almost as big as my 3 1/2yr old rat terrier chihuahua at only 3 months lol
