Real carpet. Made in USA.

Made very well. Most of these scratching posts use a velour type wrap and this is real loop carpeting.

I have to return this as our cat hates this post. The sisal is NOT THE ROPE type and she put one paw on it and backed away. Would have never ordered it if I knew
