How do you measure?

Answer by ChewyOct 03, 2024
To measure, measure around the widest part of the rib cage. Please see the product photos for the sizing chart.

Will this harness also perform like a no pull harness?

Answer by ChewyFeb 04, 2025
The front attachment point on the harness will help deter pulling while your pup works on its leash skills. However, it's important to note that while the harness can assist in reducing pulling, it may not completely eliminate the behavior on its own. We recommend using the harness in conjunction with consistent training to effectively address pulling.

Does this harness have a chest front leash connection point?

Answer by ChewyFeb 04, 2025
This harness has three leash connection points: an aluminum V-ring on the back, and two reinforced webbing loops - one on the neck for dogs that pull, and one on the back.

Does it work if the dog is a reactive puller?

Answer by ChewyDec 06, 2024
This leash features strong connection points; an aluminum V-ring and 2 reinforced webbing loops for dogs that pull.

Our second Ruffwear harness - beyond impressed!

While we haven’t gone a walk yet with this harness, I can tell it’s going to be our go-to. Aside from how beautiful it is, it actually fits my great pyrenees perfectly!

While we haven’t gone a walk yet with this harness, I can tell it’s going to be our go-to. Aside from how beautiful it is, it actually fits my great pyrenees perfectly! I purchased this particular harness due to its length and as expected, it fits in a way that isn’t uncomfortable.

XS 17-22in works well

We had the KONG Waste Bag Dog Harnesses but both my beagles can back up and squeeze out of them. I bought this harness in hopes that they'll be secure and it is!

We had the KONG Waste Bag Dog Harnesses but both my beagles can back up and squeeze out of them. I bought this harness in hopes that they'll be secure and it is! One beagle can get stuck on a scent so being able to lift and pull her a little bit to get her walking is nice! The other has big opinions so now she cannot dictate the walk by not moving and squeezing out of the harness. The harness has a lot more strap than i thought, my girls are 20 and 21in around the chest, although i might get a second harness in the larger size (for the larger girl) to accommodate when they fill out with age.

It holds!

Skeeter is all energy and prey drive. While we work on his commands, this harness has saved us so many times. He cannot get out of this at all and it is SO effective at redistributing the force of his pulls and lunges when he sees prey animals. What would normally take you down becomes an easy pull to redirect with this harness. We have to adjust it a ton. Part of that is how much he wiggles when in it and the pulling. The front straps around the neck are a bit difficult to readjust because his neck is so skinny compared to the rest of him that the clips are underneath the main piece of fabric for the harness. It does take a lot of clipping, but he lays down nice for it and we have no issues getting him in and out (some of that is training and some of that is how easy this thing is to put on). Highly recommend if you have a dog that pulls like they should be towing trucks for a living.

My dog is very awkwardly proportionally, so most harnesses are either too tight in the chest or too loose in the neck. With the 6 points of adjustment, I can fit it perfectly to her. Perfect for those dogs who seem to slip every harness!

Good harness

My Ginger can slip out of any harness in the blink of an eye. She can not get out of this one. It does not feel very sturdy to me though it might be , and Ginger

Well Made, But Design Not Ideal

This appears to be a well-made harness. The issue is if it is slipped over the dog's head, it needs to be loosened and tightened. It would be perfect if it could

This appears to be a well-made harness. The issue is if it is slipped over the dog's head, it needs to be loosened and tightened. It would be perfect if it could open and close easily and the straps would not need to be adjusted each time it was put on and taken off. We are going to look for a similar harness with different types of fasteners.

Quality poor

I have several Ruff wear harnesses that I love! They are great for beagles or any dog prone to cervical issues. This harness was flimsy. Not supportive. I sent it

The only harness that worked!

We are fostering a dog who has not been trained and is easily scared. The combo made it very important to have a collar/harness/leash that worked really well.

We are fostering a dog who has not been trained and is easily scared. The combo made it very important to have a collar/harness/leash that worked really well. We have tried a number of harnesses and this is the only one she can’t twist or shimmy out of. She is a mixed breed that is short & stocky with a long torso. The adjustability of the neck straps was key and the 3rd strap around her belly was a game changer. It took several rounds of adjusting straps to get it just right for her body shape but now we can get her used to it while also not being afraid she will get out and run away.

Great harness!

I love this harness. It's held up really well so far over the last few months. I have a fluffy husky, about 48lbs, and she's very strong. The medium fits perfectly. I actually was worried it would be too big, but it's almost too small (if she gains too much weight, it definitely won't fit lol). The handle is great for holding her back and the leash connection has held up very well under a lot of circumstances where she pulls and lunges (we're working on it). I love that it's fast drying and the design is very thoughtful with 2 different leash connections and a little loop for a light at the back (but I put mine at the front lol). It's lightweight, too, which has been great under the brutal summer sun. She can swim and run in it and it doesn't shrink or leave stains on her fur or take forever to dry. All in all, a great harness. Not quite escape proof for my husky, but it's close enough.

I am so impressed with Chewy customer service. I called because my puppy is only 7 months old and it turns out that this harness is just a little too big right now, however, I do believe he will grow into it. They told me I could keep it up to one year. Yay! It sits in the box until Buddy gets a little bigger. He is an escape artist so this harness is reputed to keep escape artists from escaping. LOL. Keeping my fingers crossed as it seems to be quite sturdy.
