Great for an older dog that needs a little more help getting upstairs. Theres a handle on the back and the same amount of material underneath as on the top section which is perfect for cooling and to provide support. Also very lightweight so again good for an older dog.

I have a 71lb Belgian Shepherd. He has medium fur and a smaller body than a German Shepherd. He gets hot easily and we do have an older ruff wear cooling coat but he doesn't like it because he doesn't like clothing that goes over his head. The Ruff Wear Cooling Harness does go over his head and then has snap buckles on the sides of the body. He does tolerate this very well when I put it on it, and it seems to keep him cooler, but not cooler than the Coat. Howevver it does cool his chest and belly and water also is in the top of the harness onces you soak it. If you wring it out, it does not pool water but it will drip if you are thinking of using inside. He likes it for hiking, it has 2 attachments one just sewn fabric and one that has a metal attachement that is sewn into the harness. I don't use either because I don't trust the durability of consistent pulling on the harness. My dog also swims in this harness and it does not weigh him down. He can go to the lake and refresh the vest, then go hiking. The only down falls are if it's really hot the vest will dry sooner and you need a water source to re-wet the harness. Second down fall is iif you live in a climate where it is humid the harness may not cool because it depends on evaporation of the water in the harness to cool the dog.
will use this for her water therapy soon

really nice! works best in low humidity

I'm super happy with this! it's lightweight and stays cool as long as you get it wet again once it starts to dry. I just wouldn't use it on a day with really high humidity. my golden retriever is between M and L, with a 33-34inch chest, and after reading reviews I actually went down with the M. it's definitely a bit short down his back, but otherwise fits him well! I think the L/XL would have covered more of his back, but it also would have been too loose around his shoulders and neck. unfortunately I have a weirdly proportioned dog with a long back and narrow shoulders lol.

I have a short haired dog but the heat really does a number on him, he overheats pretty quickly (he has a dark colored coat) so we wanted to try something to keep him cool because he needs a walk due to his energy levels even if its in the morning/late evening. It can still be pretty hot at those times here in Boston and the vest works well! Definitely keeps him cool and keeps him going a little longer. It will usually still be damp at the end of our walk (we usually do around 3 miles on average)

This harness doesn’t cool, I’ve gotten it all wet, and tried to use it on a walk with dog, no difference than another Harness. I’ve tried getting it wet and putting it in Refrigerator and putting it on dog for a walk, “No” difference. Maybe, there is a defect in the gel pack if there is one. Also, runs large. Too expensive and waste of money when I didn’t need “just another Harness”. I would say don’t buy this Harness.

I have a Dalmatian that is difficult to find good fitting harnesses because of her larger chest with smaller tuck. The adjustable clips are great to get just the right fit. The handle is sturdy and I was able to pick up my 50 pound dog pretty easily with no worry of it breaking. As far as the cooling feature, I’m not exactly sure how to tell if it’s all that helpful, but it gives me some piece of mind when it’s hot out.
Quality and Ease of Use
The harness is nice but I didn’t realize it does not have front clip which I wanted. Also didn’t grasp you are supposed to soak it in water to use for ‘cooling’

I love this harness! I already have the “normal” version of this RuffWear harness they are sturdy and the double straps and handle make it easier for me to help the dog into the car. The swamp cooler version has brought much needed relief to my aging girl. I noticed the heat had been affecting her more as she got older. Just wet and wear. I wring it out as much as I can so it doesn’t drip all over. Now she’s a bit perkier at the dog park and engages more rather than just lying around. Much appreciated as we went into 90 and 100 degree weather already.
