Desert Heat

It works! We live in the low desert and got this for our black-furred pup for both shade and cooling. Put it to the test at a family gathering, romping in the pool

It works! We live in the low desert and got this for our black-furred pup for both shade and cooling. Put it to the test at a family gathering, romping in the pool with the kids at 108* after sunset...made sure to get this wet and he wasn't even panting while chasing balls through the yard and splashing around. Felt his fur under the jacket and it was nice and cool - he stayed cooler than I did. This was a win and would buy again in a heartbeat. Iroh is maybe 35lbs with a slender build and is in a small.

This cooling vest fit great, looked great (the white helps reflect the sun), and best of all - simply works great. I have a 13yo black, short-haired dog who is also bracycephalic. Our days outside last summer were relegated to the very quick potty walks then spent mostly inside looking out. With this vest we are easily to walk outside for 1/2 hour - even in the direct sun! Thank you for bringing outside back into our lives again! Daisy stayed cool and dry underneath, and even better, wasn't completely wiped out, panting hard, and weak after her walk.

I've only tried it 1x, but it worked! We have 2 standard poodles, one white, one black. The white puppy loves to swim, the black 5yr old hates it. When we had 2 black girls it was easy; everone just stayed in the shade and cool. I only became as sensitive the affect of coat color since having the 2 different colors. Patting them I could easily feel that her coat was always hotter on walks. Often I would drape a light colored T-shirt over her, MAKE her get her feet wet (which she resisted) and offer plenty of water. These remedies normally work, but the last time we went on a beach walk she vomited when we got home. This time, I felt her coat underneath when the vest was both wet and dry. Definitely cooler underneath when wet, but the sun protection/reflection works as well when it's dry. Crossing fingers that her time with the sun and water-loving pup has gone from dangerously miserable to just [lol] impatient. <3

Worth it

Definitely kept our double coated dog cool only reason it got 4 stars was because she’s in between sizes and the medium is slightly too small and the large is slightly

Such a valuable piece!

We have had these for both girls for 2 years. One has epilepsy and staying cool is a must in the summer especially when sunbathing is a favorite thing to do. I

We have had these for both girls for 2 years. One has epilepsy and staying cool is a must in the summer especially when sunbathing is a favorite thing to do. I have had mediums for both girls (Siberian husky sisters) but Annie has increased in volume -lol mostly due to side effects from meds. So we measured and decided on an XL for her. She was swimming in it in the front but it covered her whole body. So I made a adjustment to the front/thru leg area, sewed it back together and Voila! Perfect full coverage! I cannot express how much these help the girls in the summer. We vacation in Cle Elum at our cabin and these are fantastic to help with keeping them both cool, even on hikes. We just re wet them with a water bottle mid way thru. GET ONE! Your dogs medical or healthy with thank you!

It kept him from panting in the car, so it almost acted like an undershirt. I need to try it again. It seemed to dry out fast, but maybe I need to soak it more before

Too baggy in the middle

I got two XS vests for my dogs. I measured them and they fit the measurements for the size I ordered. It snaps perfectly at the waist but is super baggy in the middle

It snaps perfectly at the waist but is super baggy in the middle and their legs come out of the leg holes causing them to trip. They also only went on a short stroll and my boy already has friction rashes from the damp vest rubbing when he walked

Good fit for my black dog

My girl is a long and lean 50 lb lab/shepherd mix. I tried another cooling jacket and it didn't cover enough of her or stay on straight. This one (size M) is longer

My girl is a long and lean 50 lb lab/shepherd mix. I tried another cooling jacket and it didn't cover enough of her or stay on straight. This one (size M) is longer and while the clips are not adjustable, there's elastic that keeps it snug and in place, however, her chest is 27", and I don't think it would work if she were much larger... (Medium says 27" - 32"). I also like that there's fabric between the clips and her body to prevent chafing. There's a hole for a leash to hook to a harness, but I put her harness over, which works fine. Being black, she gets very hot very quickly in the sun, so this really helps a lot to keep her cool.

Zipper has cushings so the southern Nevada heat does her no favors. I got the vest hoping she would like it but she spent her time shaking because she felt wet

Measure your dog

I’m looking forward to using this very well made vest to keep my dogs cool while waiting to compete in dog sports. Lots of the reviews here talk about this fest

I’m looking forward to using this very well made vest to keep my dogs cool while waiting to compete in dog sports. Lots of the reviews here talk about this fest running big. Ruffwear sizing is not similar to Frisco sizing. I have lots of Ruffwear gear. I’m a big fan, and recommend it to friends and clients. But my border collie who is an XL in Frisco clothing wears a Small in Ruffwear. My 25 lb mixed breed wears an XS in Ruffwear and a Large in Frisco clothing. If you don’t measure, you’ll end up with items that are too large.
