I saw some other reviews that said the velcro doesn't hold and it makes the stairs seem flimsy. Here's the thing; my dog is a bichon mix and has a long body and short legs so those expensive foam steps which I love scared her to death and the great thing about these steps is they have long treads and shorter risers for a longer bodied short-legged dog. dog. You assemble them by unfolding the sides and placing the step on top, which essentially they are storage boxes. The velcro is a bit weak but I tied a cord around all three steps to hold them together and put some books inside them to weigh them down, and placed a non-slip little rug under the steps to keep them from sliding away from the sofa on the hardwood floor. With those little adjustments they are exactly perfect. I've always had to put nonslip pads under all prior dog steps so it's not anything to complain about. You'll see my photo with the cord (actually a long dog leash) holding all the steps together and she happily used these steps from day one. They are really quite wonderful and I'm grateful to have found them.
