This tree has a carpet covering. Some cats may find the wooden parts to be slippery (like the middle level with the hole).

Defective??? And not as advertised

Not only is it not as advertised (in the picture, the bottom “house” has a little ledge in front of the entrance, this one has no ledge), I couldn’t even put mine

Not only is it not as advertised (in the picture, the bottom “house” has a little ledge in front of the entrance, this one has no ledge), I couldn’t even put mine together because the pieces were sized wrong. The white wooden piece for the entrance was both too tall and too thin. You can see in my pictures the front and back pieces are completely different, when they should be the same except for the hole. The height prevented the top of the house from laying flat, which made it so I could not put the rest of the tree together. Really disappointing for such an expensive item.

We’ve had this cat tree for about a year and the cats love it. The reviews mentioning the slippery shelves are correct - however it’s only the shelf with the large hole in the middle, and the top of the little cubby box. You can easily trim down a silicone mat to fit those areas. Ours weren’t interested in the rope toy, so I unscrewed it and put a Necoichi round scratcher bed on that spot, giving two full shelves to nap. The covering is NOT carpet (a huge plus for us), but a sturdy upholstery-type material. It’s much easier to clean (using Lilly Brush pet hair detailer) than carpet which helps keep allergens down. Our cats are big scratchers but haven’t damaged the covering at all. The review that called this tree “cheap garbage” is completely wrong - we’ve had the tree long enough that we’d know that by now. I will say the hammock laying area is really small, and we have big cats so that part goes unused but the rest of the tree is a popular hangout spot for all our cats.

This cat tree has been one of the best I have ever bought. It is tall. Has lots of scratching posts. And it very solid. It was easy to put together as well. We have a 20 lb cat who has made other cat trees shake and bow. This one does not move. There is a big landing area that has just wood with no carpet on it. My cats were so use to the carpet everywhere. It took them a week or so to get use to it. If I had to make one nick pick is the motorized cat toy on the top is dinky and would have been better if it was in a different position.

I’ve got two 2 year old babies and they absolutely love this tree. They’re usually not the type to be interested in hammocks or complicated attachments/levels but they haven’t gotten off it since (and while) i was building it! It’s simple enough to put together by yourself but went by significantly quicker with two people. the material is really soft and isn’t fluffy or anything so cleaning will be easy too.

No more carpet, yay! Streamlined design, very easy maintenance. After almost 1 year 3 indoor cats really enjoying this 6-ft tree. So hard to find a 6-8-ft tree that's sturdy but this one is Everything! The cubby is cushioned although it's easy to add a pillow to any level with sticky material for safety. Form and function just right. Chewy rocks! Highly recommend.

I am mostly pleased with this item. It was pretty easy to put together, it is very sturdy, and my cats enjoy it. The only con I have is that the middle shelf doesn't have fabric on it so it is incredibly slick. I already had one cat try to jump onto that and fall off (he figured it out later but I suspect this will happen again when playing).
