Not what I expected for a "sausage"

I have a small senior dog with a few teeth. We are ruling out food allergies so I was looking for an uncommon protein that might work for him. Any sausage product I have ever purchased was moist and soft. These sausages are as hard as a rock. Petrified. I could barely cut it in pieces with large scissors. I'm not saying it is a bad product as I never gave it to my dog. But this is a product for strong chewers with most of their teeth. And to call it a "sausage" is very misleading.
