Senergy Topical Solution for Dogs, 20.1-40 lbs, (Red Box), 3 Doses (3-mos. supply)

Today is the third month i've given this to my two dogs, one is 3 1/2 Cavalier King Charles, the other is an 8 year old cocker spaniel mix, 21 lbs and 27 lbs. For 13 years of my previous dog's life i gave Revolution and it worked well. Also, treating the yard with nematodes may have helped. I also use Capstar in combination with this kind of monthly flea preventative. Revolution and Senergy use the same drug, selemectin. Senergy is a generic brand of Revolution. I didn't know until about 6 months ago that there was a generic alternative to Revolution. In fact there are at least two. I learned this because all of a sudden i couldn't get Revolution. It wasn't available for many months. There was some problem with the production or distribution. One of my vets wio prescribed it for my dog told me there was a generic version which was available at Chewy. It wasn't this one, it was another one, i think it's called Selarid but i might have the spelling wrong. It turned out that Selurid was also not available but i learned that Senergy was another one, and there was one more, and those were in stock. i needed the medication, i had to try one of them. i ordered Senergy. It's similar to Revolution in how you apply it to the back of their neck. Unlike Revolution, Senergy doesn't have an odor i can smell, kind of a pesticide odor which neither i nor my dogs liked. Senergy doesn't have it. Opening the tip of the dose container is easier than Revolution. It's not a big difference but Revolution was a little more complicated. As i said i usually will use it together with Capstar, when i first apply it, if the dogs are scratching. Capstar is a very short acting flea killer. It lasts 24 hours and then it stops. It starts killing fleas right away, within a half hour and will give a dog quick relief that lasts 24 hours if it works as it's supposed to. It always has for me. So, i think it gives the selemectic a good start by killing off a lot of fleas at the beginning of the selemectin dose, and i may give it for up to if the scratching comes back but i can always see it die down in the first days of selemectin, and my last three doses have been the Senergy generic brand. Senergy and the other generics are A LOT cheaper than Revolution. Senergy only comes in 3 month maximum doses. i hope that changes but i have it for two dogs so i know what 6 months would cost if they had it for one dog. Revolution is close to $140 for 6 months. Senergy is about $100 for six doses. Each time i've given it to my dogs, by the second or third day, they are no longer scratching repeatedly. One of them may scratch now and then but no longer frequently. I do use the Capstar at the beginning, but i would have no problme using it by itself without the Capstar. Capstar is pretty expensive, it's not meant to be used ongoing as a monthly preventative. It's meant for things like, if you take your dog to a dog park where they might get exposed to fleas, you give Capstar when you leaved the dog park and by the time you get home all the fleas will be dead so they won't get in your house. Anyway, i can't say how happy i am to have a much more affordable effective selemectin medication and once again, i'm seeing the end of itching. i did give a Capstar today so that is to be expected. i don't see selemectin as fast acting. in my experience it should be in effect by into the third day and notice
