While the Beef Recipe product appears to be nutritious (ingredients stated on bag) and my Belgian Shepherd (Groenendael) seems to enjoy it, and the smell seems to entice her. I am undecided as to using the product it does remind me of a fish product tubifex worms (years ago) because of the dryness and the cube shapes.

These compact beefy cubes are a big hit in our house. With 6 dogs, all with good appetites these serve as a special treat in our house. They are lightweight, airy and are easily chewed ( or swallowed whole). When I shake the bag to lure Yuki, my female Shiba Inu back into the house she forgets about the chipmunk or the squirrel she is chasing and comes a running from across the yard. As a “raw feeder” advocate these are so convenient. Take them on the road with you when camping or traveling. No mess. No defrosting and no refrigeration. Ingredients are wholesome and mostly organic and meet AAFCO standards. Nice packaging, zip lock bag. As always Chewy is the best to order from. Makes searching and looking for dog / pet products so easy and delivery is always timely and things are packedwell for shipping. I would definitely recommend these freeze dried beef dog food for daily meals or for that special treat.

My 2 1/2 year old black lab knew something exciting arrived in the mail (he has a hunkering that when a Chewy box arrives it's his lucky day). He immediately sat properly when I started opening the box, salivating at whatever was going to come from it. The Shepherd Boy Farms packaging is lovely to look at, but no where on it describes what is inside (is a treat? is it dog food? is it a topper?). Upon reading the back you learn that you can serve it on its own or as a topper. Something that startled me, though, was that you need to "wash hands with soap and warm water after handling. Wash bowl thoroughly between meals." The reason being that the contents are "freeze-dried RAW beef" parts. I don't know about you, but often when I feed my pup I am in the middle of doing a million things and won't always remember to wash my hands or the bowl. So that could be problematic. Now, in terms of the product itself - it has a bit of a weird smell (but, truly, most dog food does) and the beef cubes are very bland to look at (luckily it's not for me to eat). But my dog scarfed it up! AND it didn't impact his digestive track too much (most new foods cause disruption in his bowel movements). So that was a win!

This food was definitely dog approved! Both of our boxers loved it amd would come running when they heard the bag. We used it as a topper with their regular kibble. The pieces are bite sized. Even though this is freeze dried, our dogs didn't mind that the pieces were dry. No need to rehydrate for our dogs. The smell of the food isn't overpowering. We feed one raw meal to our dogs every morning and this food didnt smell any stronger than the raw food we feed. The only negative I noticed was there was a bit of settling and crumbs in the bag, but overall, most of the pieces were whole. The ingredient list is also good. Our dogs are prone to tummy issues and this food didn't bug them at all. We also used it as training treats. Overall, this is a solid choice that I would recommend.

I have tried other Freeze Dried dog foods, but the Beef Recipe by Shepherd Boy Farms is the best! My twelve-year old Corgi devours it (and quickly walks over to the bag to ask for more)! Being older, my dog's teeth are not as strong as they once were, but she eats this soft, cube-shaped food easily -- more easily than soft canned food mixed with kibble and water). I use the "Beef Recipe" because its top ingredients are: Beef, Beef Kidney, Beef Hearts and Beef Liver. According to experts, these are the BEST PROTEIN sources you can give your dog. The Beef Recipe food also contains Pumpkin Seeds, which naturally kill parasites. The apples, Cod Liver Oil, Chicory Root and Ginger aid digestive health and sooth sensitive stomachs. And, there are probiotics that promote healthy gut bacteria. Most importantly, Shepherd Boy Farms is grown, processed and packaged in the USA -- using ingredients from farms in Indiana. When feeding my 28-pound Corgi, I use 1 cup in the morning, and 3/4 cup in the evening. For variety, I sometimes mix one or two tablespoons of Shepherd Boy Farms' "Beef Recipe" with some of my dog's kibble. And, Shepherd Boy Farms' small, freeze-dried cubes also make an ideal dog treat (a healthy alternative to low-quality biscuits). Each bag contains instructions on how to slowly switch your dog to a raw freeze-dried diet, along with guidelines on how much to feed your dog based upon your pup's weight. I highly recommend Shepherd Boy Farms' Freeze- Dried Raw, Free Range food.

We use this as both a topper for kibble and as a treat in toys for enrichment. My three fur-children go crazy for it and I feel good giving it to them because I know it is an excellent, clean brand! This is a brand I will continue purchasing due to the ingredients, quality of ingredients and the sourcing of ingredients. It’s not always easy to find quality foods that are convenient to purchase, so I’m very thankful to Chewy for carrying this brand!
