I have been buying the chicken chips for a while and have noticed that the chips are getting thicker and harder. My dog has a hard time chewing them now in comparison to before I have to use a meat tenderizer to break them into smaller pieces. I would say they are twice the previous thickness. I guess that’s their way of speeding up production. If your dog has sensitive teeth or gums, I would not recommend. I hope they go back to the old version. I am now forced to find an alternative because these are just way too thick.
River expects a couple of these treats as a reward after her walks. She loves the crunch and the sound reassures me that she's chewing and not just swallowing whole.
So I wouldn’t call these chips, they are pretty thick, I would call them nuggets. Not for pups with weak or missing teeth like my senior girls. My younger boy pups love them & can chewy them easily & love them!
I used to buy the long chicken tendons but they were just to big for my girls. So I looked a round. No pun intended and found Sokehouse Prime Chips, Chicken Breast. They get one chip each after their walk. I keep them in the fridge even though I don’t have to.
My dogs are very picky eaters and it is sometimes hard to find treats for them. They both like chicken and do seem to like these chicken treats. My only problem with them is that they are not uniform in size or shape--so I need to find 2 of similar size to give out as treats.
These chips have changed in size, color and texture. They are thicker pieces and they smell different. My little Maltese won't eat them anymore. I called Smokehouse directly and some to Lisa in Customer Service. She insisted that nothing has changed in production. My dog would beg to differ, and so do I. Hoping they go back to the original chips, but until then I have to cancel my auto ship.
My pup loves the Chicken Chips that are made in the USA.
The dogs love these chips...especially the crunch.
My dog loves these enough to tolerate taking his meds just so he can get one of these afterwards.
These are my wheaten/cocker/poodle’s favorite treat , paws down !
