The divider is removable. The size for each room in the Medium crate is 15.7 inches wide x 23 inches deep x 23 inches high and the size for each room in the Large crate is 18.5 inches wide x 27 inches deep x 25 inches high.

The divider is not needed for us with our bigger dog so it's just an extra metal thing that sticks up where she needs to lay down. There needs to be an option to not have that, but I never saw it if there is. Other than that it is great!
