My kitty has always enjoyed Solid Gold Indigo Moon with Chicken & Eggs Dry Cat Food, but she hasn't been
eating it as she has in the past. I've always bought it through our local person, but she said she was
considering not selling it anymore because we live in a rural area and their wasn't enough demand.
I looked at the bag you sent me for the expiration date and it has the date of 2024 so I know that's
not the problem. I'm a little worried if there might be some kind of contamination.

not buying again
My picky cat loves this, but she was at a perfect weight, and now needs to lose some. My other cat is overweight and I’m trying to move away from dry food. I thought they’d be more satiated with this kind, but it has given them diarrhea twice. I’m not buying it again!!

Makes your kitties sluggish and gain weight
TLDR:
Pros: no hunger strike when incorporating this food into their dry intake
Cons: makes kitties crave more, gain weight as a result of the cravings, makes them very noticeably sluggish, and also difficult to feed other lower fat foods. Like another user said: it’s the equivalent of cat pizza.
———
I’ll preface this by saying I have a 15yo and a 1yo cat, and we tried this brand out when transitioning our younger one off of kitten kibble. She had never been very picky before, save for tuna and certain seafood flavors. I mixed this kibble with another kibble she had a bit of before transitioning off completely from kitten kibble. I was hoping for a kibble with high protein content. At first I was really happy that my cats didn’t go on a hunger strike over the food change to include this into their kibbles, but now I’m regretting that I purchased a larger bag of this kibble a few weeks ago.
After a month or so, I’ve noticed our younger cat has had a definite weight gain and filled out considerably. She used to run up and down our house playing with springs and go absolutely wild with feather toys. Her level of zoomies and crazy play has decreased to maybe 20% of what it was before, and now most of her play style is rather lazy and sluggish “you swing the toy to me while I lay here and maybe bat at it a few times” play.
I also noticed she started to reject a lot of the wet foods she LOVED before. Tiki cat sardines in lobster consommé are rather low fat but she used to cry for it and eat it up so quickly. She even rejects the American Journey chicken and turkey in gravy, which she loved before! Basically for any wet food that is lower fat, we have such a hard time giving her now because all she wants are these kibbles.
My other cat is much older and overweight and despite having him on a caloric deficit which I meticulously calculated, with these kibbles as part of his dry intake (only his lunch scoop), he hasn’t been losing weight at all. He hasn’t been as picky as our younger kitty so at least her portions of rejected wetfood are graciously accepted by him at a later feeding.
Overall this food is great if you’re trying to incorporate something that will be easy to transition onto or get your kitties to gain some weight, but be warned that they may just become addicted to this stuff. I’ll probably just use the larger bag if kibbles for treats or a considerably smaller makeup of their kibbles to curb the weight gain.

Solid Gold High Protein
Unfortunately my finicky cats did not enjoy this particular dry food. I am not sure why as I do think it has high quality ingredients. My cats would sniff but after one bite they would walk away. Again my cats are very finicky so it might be more them than the actual cat food.

good..but also not good.
this food has made my baby noticeably gain weight an I don’t even over feed him. it seems to be the equivalent of me eating a huge pizza. he loves it, it’s not all bad, but it makes him slumped an lazy, lol. I would say if you need food for a cat who can’t gain weight this is perfect for you. but I want my cat to be active an healthy, not craving constantly. so I probably won’t use this one consistently, maybe as a treat or something. but still overall not too bad.

Cats love but going WAY up in price
My 10 cats have really like this food for years, but it has jumped up a lot in price. In Feb., I paid about $35 for the 10 lb bag. Now it's up to $45. Sorry, but now it's time to find a lower-cost alternative.

Cats like this product
First time I have tried this brand and flavor. My older and younger cats enjoy this product so far. I give them dry food and wet food. The pieces are small so it may not be the best choice for those cats that eat really fast (inhale their food).

Do not recommend
I tried to find an “inexpensive” grain free chicken cat food for my cats. The ingredients of this food look fairly good so I gave it a try. My cats threw it up every time they ate it. So I switched to a more expensive grain free chicken brand and no vomit. Interesting.

Cats keep throwing up
Cats gravitate to this one first but have nonstop vomited daily, sometimes a lot in a day. They like the other ones. Not sure what is going on.
