Switching to any new dog food should be a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days. Replace 25% of the current food with Solid Gold for 2 to 3 days, then feed a little more Solid Gold over the next 5 - 7 days until your dog is eating Solid Gold exclusively. This gradual transition will help reduce digestive upsets that may occur due to the change in diet.

Love it so far!
By Emily on Feb 9, 2021
My dog is currently still transitioning onto this food, but I am already so pleased with the results. My 1 year old male boxer is a rescue from a puppy mill and came to us with a ton of stomach issues. He has had horrible, bloody diarrhea for over 6 months and I have tried everything. Vet visits, special diets, nothing has worked. Since starting this transition, he has had solid poop for the first time in his life! Can’t wait for him to be fully on this food. The fact that it is chicken free and has probiotics in the ingredients makes it even more appealing. Love it so far!

Will not eat..smells bad
By Rose on Jan 2, 2021
My dogs have always eaten Fromm but my Yorkie has developed a sensitive stomach (typical for breed) I started the switch to this food and none of my 3 like it. They try to eat around it as I’m still mixing it with their past food. And it smells terrible! Stinks up the whole room. Guess I am going back to their original. Now have a huge bag I can’t use! Next time I will start with a smaller bag to see if it works. Love Chewy and wished they carried Fromm again.

Working well so far!
By Puppers on Oct 30, 2020
I had my Labrador puppy on a much higher protein, grain-free puppy food with chicken and turkey as main protein sources. She had continuous loose stools that I potentially attributed to new home, transitioning from breeders food, deworming, flea meds, etc. The stools stayed loose, and after a few weeks, she began scratching. Then, one eye swelled up. That was it... I gave her a Benadryl and started researching allergies and food intolerance, including protein intolerance. I searched long and hard for a completely different protein source that was grain-free, with quality ingredients and under 30% crude protein level. Leaping Waters is what I settled on. I did a very quick transition and almost immediately saw the loose stools improve. Her scratching is improving, too, but not yet totally gone. She also isn't leaving near the yellow spots in the grass that she was. Not sure (yet) if it was the chicken, turkey, high-protein or a combo of all three, but I'm really happy with this food right now! Pup is now 5 months old and I'm just about to start my 3rd 22-lb bag. … more

Charlie is happier
By MomOFchiweenies on Oct 27, 2020
Our chiweenie Charlie has very fine, thin hair which comes with an allergy to grass. Poor guy. He has itched like crazy but after changing him to this Solid Gold, fish edition, his sensitive skin and stomach are fairing much better. Less allergies and less raw, itchy skin. We’ve tried four other brands but he’ll always scratch himself raw, esp with chicken and beef. Fish? He loves it. He also looks and feels like a newer pup! Picture below shows much less irritated skin on his tummy area!

We have a puppy and a four year old Bulldog. We struggled to find a food that was appropriate and they both liked. This was it!! Bonus— good for sensitive tummies.

Solid Gold is a very high quality food
By Ollie on Oct 31, 2020
I have been feeding my dogs that I've owned for the last 30 years Solid Gold dog food, both the kibble and the wet food. I had Shelties that were allergic to many foods. Then I gave them Solid Gold grain free and they love it! Also, they no longer were itching. I currently have a Havanese who has a sensitive stomach and skin allergies. I've been giving him Solid Gold grain free salmon and vegetable for sensitive stomach. He loves it!

Worth the $ just for the easy cleanup.
By Everestsmom on Oct 12, 2020
We adopted an 18-month-old Pyrenees/lab mix. The rescue insisted that the food he’d been eating was great for him. Well, the cow patties in the back yard begged to differ. It became a battle in our little family about who had to pick up the poop because it was such a messy job. Thankfully within a couple weeks, the chore was a lot less daunting (although you can’t convince my 8 yo son). He still toots regularly and his breath smells just a tad like fish after his meal, but the backyard situation has been fixed. Worth every penny.

Gamechanger
By Mose on Nov 18, 2020
My 5 year old mutt has ALWAYS had a sensitive stomach. We’ve tried many different brands, probiotics, etc, with no significant results. Since switching, he’s had the most solid stool I have ever seen from him. Amazing! And he’s obsessed with it, so points for taste.
