We recommend splitting these daily guidelines into 2 meals. Feeding amounts are guidelines and may vary based on activity, health condition, life stage, temperature. It is important to maintain your pet’s body condition for long-term health. Solid Gold pet foods are complete and balanced; additional foods, treats and chews may alter that balance. Offer fresh water daily. We recommend your dog see the veterinarian annually. Puppies, Lactating & Gestating Females: Puppies start to nibble on solid food at 3 - 4 weeks. We recommend moistening dry food with warm water or Solid Gold canned food through weaning (6 - 8 weeks). Maintain your puppy’s ideal body condition. Appetite changes are normal with most puppies. Lactating /gestating females may need 2 - 3 times more food than shown in the table.
Transition Instructions
Switching to any new dog food should be a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days. Replace 25% of the current food with Solid Gold for 2 to 3 days, then feed a little more Solid Gold over the next 5 - 7 days until your dog is eating Solid Gold exclusively. This gradual transition will help reduce digestive upsets that may occur due to the change in diet.

So I researched this specific food, checked every ingredient to make sure it was beneficial for my dog to consume and you guys have excelled, my dog loves it, but my question is why doesn’t it smell good? It has this kinda protein/vitamin smell to it where I expected a more meaty good smell.
Answer by • Nov 29, 2018
Some of their foods will have a “meatier” aroma than others, depending on the amount of fresh meat in that particular product. Solid Gold Pet also believes in the superior nutrition of fish and as such, ocean fish meal is included in every single one of our dry foods. The fish will often depart a different type of smell, again depending on how much fish is included in the product. There are also probiotics applied to the outside of the kibble along with some fat, which can slightly alter the smell from that “meaty” aroma.

Answer by • Oct 12, 2017
Solid Gold doesn't include glucosamine or chondroitin in their formulas as they feel they are much more effective supplemented into the diet with known dosage and no threat of being harmed in the manufacturing process.

Finally..solid poo!! We rescued a new addition(..we lost 2 in 5 months, rescued a sweet girl to keep our poor boy Chance company..then lost him! "The three amigos" all went within 14 months!)Willow, from the pound! Not sure what they fed her,but Purina pro plan shredded beef and rice, didn't agree!! My oldest who passed, lived to be 15..til her hips gave out..on the Purina lamb and rice, but they quit making it?! Well, the hunt was on(..her sister Bella is picky! Her favorite food is cheese!!) I tried salmon and vegan..I wanted to pull my hair out! I would add pumpkin and everything recommended, trying to solidify this poor dog's stool!! Then I read "Mike's" review on Wolf king..I laughed and ordered a small bag! They both loved it(..well,Willow eats anything and always seems hungry still..) But..finally..firm..can I say..Beautiful Poo!! What a relief!! Now..if we could work on that price..it would be a 5 star product!!(But..look at the price of eggs!!) Spoil them, love them..and don't take time for granted!!

full of chicken products
I bought this because it said Bison Brown Rice and sweet potato recipe. I should have read the ingredients but didn't think because of what the package had in it that it would be packed with chicken products. My dog is allergic to chicken. I fed him twice in one day thinking I was doing a good thing for him and it set him off. Never again will I not completely read the ingredients. I expected additional vitamin stuff in there but just didn't think it would have chicken.

Good Ingredients but…
My dog seemed to like this food, and it does have good ingredients. However, it made her allergies much worse and she started losing her hair and becoming even itchier than before. Will not purchase again because of that.

Not allergy friendly
I have been feeding my Boxers this brand for a couple
Of years now and they have done well. My male developed an MCT and hives. Chewing paws etc. I thought changing the protein source would help. Neither my male
Or female care for this flavor and my males allergies have worsened.

Pricing is out of control
This is good food that my dog loves but the price keeps going up. Since July, the 24 lb Solid Gold Bison has increased $20! Time to find a more reasonably priced kibble.

Delicious but gassy
Our 2 year old pitbull loves this food! She eats it and her stool is solid but she is so gassy! We have been buying this for the last ~6 months but we are ultimately going to try a different Solid Gold formula to see if we can solve for the farts. Affordable and quality food is hard to find but Solid Gold is our new favorite.

Lost faith when bought out
Price went up again. Other quality dog foods out there to go with my homemade food for my lab.
Also, lost faith in the company when it was bought out by H&H Group, a Chinese company 2 yrs ago.

Finally found it!
I welcomed an 18 month old Dane girl into my home about 5 months ago. She has had loose stools and regurgitation issues since she was a tiny puppy. Her first mom tried ProPlan sensitive with no luck. I tried Iams and then The Honest Kitchen with minimal luck…along with a raised feeder, a slow bowl, smaller meals more often, and a full vet work up (all clear). We have been using this food for exactly one week and have had exactly ZERO regurgitation. I can’t guarantee that we have found our answer but we have gone from recycling one meal a day to keeping it all down for 7!

Quality food
After a lot of research, I have been giving my dogs this food for months. They like it as much as other kibbles. And the ingredients are better than most. I only wish it came in a larger bag. I have two large dogs so I go through these bags very quickly.
