I have only one elderly hen left at the moment . She is 7 1/2 years old ! At her age , and since she just moulted, she is not laying eggs, but I do want her to have a little more weight with winter coming and these Sonoma Organic pretium dried black soldier fly larvae are a perfect snack for her . The nutritional values in this product keep me assured that she is getting plenty of extra protein ,carbs, crude fats, fiber and calcium. This product came well packaged in a resealable bag. There are a pound of the soldier fly larvae and these will last a long while . So a value for the money . Even if one has a small flock , this would be an economical product to feed as a healthy snack . My old girl loves this product and gobbles them down clucking happily! I am happy that these flies are sourced in a way that is earth friendly ! I am also happy that these can be fed as a snack to my two red ear slider turtles ! They also love them! I’m very happy with this product . These are grown in California , responsably sourced , and are organic. But most of all im happy to have a healthy snack to feed my old hen. Her feathers looks amazing , She has gained a bit of weight, she is active ,healthy and happy . I would very much recommend this product !

My chickens really don’t get treats, but decided to try these to maybe help motivate them to go back inside their pen if I need them to. We tried them out today, and I’d say they liked them. I’m not sure that they will care to come back to their fence once out for them though. They are just a little oily, and have a light smell that lingers on your hands, so not great to handle. The birds were into it, but also didn’t stay on them while I opened their fencing for free ranging. Not 5 stars just for those reasons. There are quite a few broken tiny pieces of bugs in the bag, but overall the quality seems good and we are happy to have tried them out.

I have 4 laying hens and like to spoil them. I decided to try these Black Soldier Fly Larvae to see how it would go. Upon receiving them I noticed that they were quite large, looked healthy for dead bugs and would make for a good snack for my hens. They don't smell to good though, so thank goodness I'm not a chicken that likes to eat them. My chickens took to them right away and seemed to really enjoy them as they left no scraps behind. I would definitely recommend these for your chickens.

I changed a couple of items for them to a natural diet. I can tell their feathers seam to be healthier and all 4 lay eggs pretty much every day.

It is molting season here and I love giving them a good bump in protein to help with feather growth. They're dried well and I can trust they're great for my birds.

I think these would be great to use for taming purposes. These larvae are raised in an environmentally sound way. That makes me feel better about feeding them to my beloved flock of chickens.
