The spray included a brush in the box for cleaning the area before treatment. My horse had thrush in one of her hooves. Followed directions on the bottle to clean area and then spray on thrush. The brush was also to be used to scrub the solution into the affected area but I had concerns about what was on the brush after cleaning the hoof so I used a disinfected brush that I had. The spray was easy to apply and was able to spray on the thrush without using the brush. My horse didn't react to application so no discomfort for her. Treated daily for 2 days and then went to every other day for 3 applications. Thrush cleared up without any issue. Would I buy it again...maybe...for a severe infection in the hoof I can see where it would be a good option. For my horse's thrush which wasn't severe and cleared quickly the process and results were the same as other non-chlorine treatments I have.

My farrier recommended I get some treatment to keep on hand for thrush. At first, I got some of that purple stuff at the local feed store that’s very similar to the purple primer you use on pipes—it’s runny, purple, and stains everything. When I saw this SteriHoof with a spray bottle I thought I’d give it a try. I like that it’s not a purple liquid that stains everything, including my fingers when I’m working with it. I’ve attached a photo that shows it’s a light lavender color but is thin enough you can see through it. I don’t get any staining if it gets on my hands. The ingredients are listed as proprietary “quaternary ammonium compounds” which are common in disinfectants, sanitizers, etc. and it just has a faint ammonia or maybe even alcohol-like smell to it. While the spray applicator is handy, I wish it didn’t spray such a fine mist. If the droplets were heavier/thicker, I think it would be easier to coat the hoof pad and get more liquid where it needs to be. You have to spray very close to the hoof, but even then, some of the mist drifts away in any breeze. Still, it’s a lot easier to use than pouring out of a bottle or using some other applicator. Once you get the hoof pad soaked, then you can use the included brush to really scrub it around to get in all the crevices. This seems to work well. The directions say to apply it every other day or, if it’s a bad infection, every day for 7 days. Since it’s been dry lately, my horses don’t have any infections to clear up yet, but I expect this will work well when the time comes.

This is a convenient spray, doesn’t seem to have much smell to it and no color so it doesn’t stain like other thrush meds. I just used it for the first time and it has good coverage but we’ll see how effective it is. My only negative comment so far is the spritzer bottle isn’t the best, you have to hold it straight on to use.

I’ve used the SteriHoof Treatment Horse Spray a few times now, and it seems to be working well so far. The application is easy, and it appears to treat the issue effectively — I’ve noticed improvement since starting it. However, I haven’t been using it long enough to know if the results will hold up over time or if the problem will come back. So far, I’m happy with how it’s performing and plan to continue using it to see how it does in the long run.

Our 20+ year old Tennessee walking horse seems to be very prone to thrush and other hoof conditions, so this is something I like to keep on hand going in to winter/mud season. It's easy to apply with the spray bottle and a brush is included so you have everything you need. I'm happy that it doesn't cause any stinging or burning.

I got this because my horse had a rock in his hoof and we needed to get it cleaned out and covered to keep it sterile. This product seems to have all the ingredients needed to keep it clean and used as sort of an antiseptic type medicine so I will let you know how it starts to heal!

This product seems to work fast on thrush. I applied only two or three times inside frog grooves of one hoof, over a few days. The thrush smell is gone. Have to wait to see if it is completely gone. I like the fact it's a spray, it's a lot easier to apply, and I like the bottle that sprays well upside down!
